Re: DIY Metal Finishing - Plating - Anodizing
OOOH! Brain-dump time for me! For aluminum, you'll need some TSP for the pre-cleaning, sodium hydroxide for the de-smut/strip, sulfuric acid for the electrolyte bath, distilled water for final cleaning, and a big honking power supply to run the works. Titanium can be anodized with either TSP or bora...

TRX-1 Mods and Parts guide
Hi guys I feel that something that's missing in this area is a consolidated thread that people can refer to when searching for parts or mods for their TRX-1s. Before I go on, I am anything but a guru on the car, i picked up a couple of them and raced one at a vintage meeting in October and am keen t...

Re: DIY Metal Finishing - Plating - Anodizing
Actually took a little time to prep, clean, nickel plate and polish some DS dogbones. Results are pretty decent. Stating the obvious, but the time put into the prep dramatically impacts the quality of the finished product. Step 1 - Cleaned IMG_1.JPG Step 2 - Plated IMG_2.JPG Step 3 - Polished IMG_3....

Re: titanium top shaft
Do I have ANY chance of finding one of these? Don't ask me why... but I had a desire to set up an all-metal stealth transmission (w/ plastic spur gear... I'm crazy - not stupid). You can still easily find the hardened aluminum diff gear and after a couple of months of watching eBay, I was able to tr...

Today's build
Picked this one up today. This is my brother's original RC10 from the 80's. It started life as an original "A" stamped gold pan, but he modified it with the long arms and longer shocks in the front along with new arms in the rear. After sitting for more that 25 years he decided to part wit...

An Analysis of an Early Edinger (Warning: Long and Image Intensive!)
Hey all, as most of you know I won the auction last week for the early Edinger that was new in box from Goodwill, of all places. Having now gone through everything in the box, analyzed and photographed it, I can say with a good amount of certainty it is complete and all original. These early kits, a...

Re: 12mm hex conversion
Yes the truck axles are longer and use the thicker 12 mm hex. It's a 4mm difference. So if you use the truck axles/hex, your total front width will be 8 mm wider. Depending on the backspacing of the wheels you want to use, this could be used to your advantage. I included this pic so you can see both...

Re: Re-re scorpion and the likes tire size?
I just built a re-re Turbo Scorpion a couple months back. It uses 2.2 front & rear. Any modern 2.2 2wd front & rear buggy tires will fit. In the kit, the fronts have white letter "Sand Super" logos. The rears are solid black-wall but the kit includes decals if you want "Sand S...
