Re: Optima Mid RERE

There's a good chance the box may never be opened, or at least for many years. The Turbo Optima and CAT XLS have been sitting on the shelf unopened for 2-3 years or so. Problem is there's nearly 20 project cars/trucks, and growing, sitting on the shelf ahead of them. And projects get done at a snai...

Re: Hirobo 44B

I picked up one of these last year, but haven't done anything with it. It was too cool to pass up, especially with the Associated shocks, CRP chassis plate and stadium truck bodyshell. Wheels and tyres look good too, plus it also has a new pair of rims and some new in packet red ball joints as well....

threesheds , I used the data provided to derive something... I'm not sure how close it is from the reality, I'll have to wait I have a real tire in hand to check how much need to be reviewed... https://i.imgur.com/X63U0yy.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PBxtagT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kWGDs5e.jpg https://i...

Re: Hirobo Bearcat SS - Let's start something else...

1mm split pins on eBay are cheap as chips and easy to find , can't see the point of messing about making them .

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

A new project started with arrival of a few parts today. This is not a complete car, but those parts are in very good condition (basically new) and did not cost a lot, so it was a no brainer... https://i.imgur.com/6EOkw7m.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XKqwFG7.jpg Hirobo 44B chassis parts... Re: Hirobo Rockn City - rhyming slang or refurb.

Did a quick exchange of the chassis plate for a GRP one I got off eBay a while ago. Body shell still "an issue" as I don't see much I like better than the modern cheapo as per earlier pics. Maybe a kyosho Optima? Which could also go on the GV Beagle. I'm already thinking 44B on my side, a...

Re: Hirobo 44Bs and Zerda :)

I'll model both 44B version and the one from the Zerda (I have it in a part bag, that came with the Zerda wheels). I may be able to model it quite quickly, as I don't need to tear down a car to do it... Watch this space :-)

Re: Hirobo 44Bs and Zerda :)

Well, I just put one detailed picture of the Zerda at this stage... I'm not even talking about the metal bent out of the box and far too easy to unbent or bent in other dimesions than the original bent :-) They would have made this part within elastomers, I'm not sure it would be that different :-) ...

Re: Hirobo 44Bs and Zerda :)

In the later Alien mid and Invader they used the same suspension geometry as the Zerda but significantly reinforced , the suspension arms are much thicker and the suspension mounts on the bulkheads are greatly reinforced , the suspension components for the Alien Mid and Invader are a drop in replace...

Re: Hirobo 44Bs and Zerda :)

It's very easy to make those bumpers , it's just 3mm Kydex , you can get it on eBay , it softens in an oven at 150°C or if you just want a bend then a hot air gun works very well . Mark there is a piece of software called GOM Inspect that is often used in 3d scanning that compares digital models , I...

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff

Ideally the pivot of the steering should be in the centre of the wheel , if it's designed that way in the first place then if you increase the offset with extending the hex hub further out then you should then use wheels with an offset that corrects it , in the real world unless your a pro driver yo...

Re: Hirobo 44Bs and Zerda :)

I don't think it's an issue with the body shells from what I can see. It may be just a minor mistake on the 44B chassis instruction manual :-)
(as I said in the Bearcat SS thread, I'm not sure the guy who wrote the manual and draw it actually built the car :-) )
