Re: Tres Compilaciones De Futaba FX10s

The shelfie is just about done. I still need to paint the driver, but I will do that the same time I paint the one for the runner.

This thing came out better than I thought it would. I honestly can't stop smiling at it! I am 13 again!! :D

Anyone Familiar With Hobby World Valiant II? (TRX-1 Clone)

Anyone with firsthand experience with a Hobby World (Jamara / HobbyLand / etc) Valiant II? It seems to have a few names, and sold through multiple distributors starting in 1993. Jamara in Europe, HobbyLand in US? Seems to be a TRX-1 clone with an aluminum upper deck, and a Hobby World (Chadori) A07 ...

Re: Anyone Familiar With Hobby World Valiant II? (TRX-1 Clone)

This turned into a typical FBMP fawkup. I "bought" one earlier today, but then the seller sold it from under me. Par for FB douchebags. Here are some pics of the one I "bought," and a link to pics of another one. https://www.retromodelisme.com/voiture/1312-1/jamara-hobby-w...

Re: Dreams and go to motors of your youth?

I recently picked up what for me for a long time in my youth was the motor of dreams , the Tamiya (Mahuchi) RS-540SD Black Motor Sprint :!: Great motor! I have the blue end Endurance version in my 956. 20220419_190430.jpg When I was younger, I just loved the Le Mans 480T, but I have never had a car...

Re: Stripped Le Mans 480Gold mounting holes

Fine M3 threads are .035 pitch, and I don't think there are any heli coil kits out there for that. You could try a course .05 coil, but the body of the motor doesn't have much to grab on to, so not sure if that is a viable option, but such things are available. If the fine threads are stripped in th...

Re: Stripped Le Mans 480Gold mounting holes

M3X0.5 is the common size. Not sure why I had .35 pitch in my head, but as usual, JC is right on it and dead on. With M3 .5, a rivnut could be an option. With such small hardware, I wouldn't think an actual rivnut tool would be required, as a jerry-rigged pulling / prying device shouldn't be diffic...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

Great haul for future Traxxas builds the past two days. Tub, skid plates, and XL-1 heat sinks for the Sledgehammer; shock towers for the Bullet, and chassis plates for the Fiero GTP. :D

With such small hardware, I wouldn't think an actual rivnut tool would be required, as a jerry-rigged pulling / prying device shouldn't be difficult to come up with. i didn't know these existed. very interesting! The M3 ones I've found seem quite long (9mm) ...

And once you put it together, it is worth twice as much on the used market, than it was when it was new. At least that is how the local market works here for them. Definitely on the list, but haven't found one near the deal it would need to be.

Re: Anyone tried this? Yellowed parts white

This process has become one of the most satisfying parts of restoring these old vehicles for me! The process of hydrating, cleaning, and whitening is tedious and boring, but the payoff is just so worth it in the long run! For medium, I use Salon Care 40 Volume Clear (liquid) or Creme (cream d...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

After just about six weeks since ordering, the final parts arrived for my FX10 MT conversion. Of course, I was so excited to get them, I installed them without taking any pics. Overall good timing though, as it is suppose to rain all weekend, so good time to get to painting and hopefully finishing t...

Re: Tres Compilaciones De Futaba FX10s

And bringing up the rear is the Monster Truck, which I have taken it upon myself to relabel as a FXMT. Took a bit to get all the parts lined up, but it worked out. Outside of the nostalgia for the original white one, this one turned up to be my favorite, but to be honest, I am pleased with how they ...

Re: Chrome paint for plastic wheels

From my research, the best chrome out there is Molotow Liquid Chrome, but it is really only sold as pens (or as a pen refill). For something like wheels, it needs to be airbrushed. It seems to do better on some plastics than others, and I think it actually likes heavy coats, so it can flow and self-...
