I like seeing the 4 pin Dean's motor connector on the TRX 1. It's good to see that I'm not the only dinosaur using them with brushed motors.

It would be really cool if Traxxas did a re-re of the TRX 1.

I probably won't get a chance to try and dig up my old FrankenOptima until Thanksgiving weekend, and that seems like way too long to wait. Between this awesome build and the awesome community build, there's a lot of inspiration on this site to go out and build a buggy.

On #1, I'm assuming you opened the rear gearbox to get the chain out. Was the big final pinion still the OEM aluminum gear? What kind condition was it in? When those start wearing, they end up chewing up the plastic differential / chain drive gear.

What model does the box say it is? Just curious. Yes, that is a stealth transmission.

That rust could be cleaned up by disassembling and the steel parts spending a day or two soaking in CLR. Then some gun bluing and back to being pretty.

Touring cars are pretty fun. There's a lot of pavement in the world. That looks like a pretty sweet setup. You can always sell it later....
