Re: Ultima LWB

I actually think you might be fine there...the upper deck "skeleton" shouldn't be taking the brunt of the abuse anyway, but you might get it a bit more sturdy by bolting it down with a countersunk screw inside a conical washer, instead of just a screw...that might disperse any vibrations t...

Re: Newbie with Race Motor and AE RC10

So I take it I should lube up the whole steering system(I use WD-40), and loosen all the fasteners a bit to see if that helps. I just wanted to chime in on using WD-40 for lubrication...that's a bad idea. WD-40 is best used for removing moisture and grease. If anything, WD-40 will remove any oil or...

Re: Newbie with Race Motor and AE RC10

https://www.rc10talk.com/download/file.php?id=130455&mode=view The top half of this picture shows your bellcrank assembly, mostly in red parts on this car. Usually the two shafts on the bottom of the bellcrank have bearings or bushings on them, which need oil. When your steering servo pushes on...

Re: Marui Shogun Restoration

Yes, the Shogun and its counterparts, the Ninja & Thunderbird, were shaft-drive 4WD. You're right about the Marui Big Bear...if I remember correctly, this was actually the first RC monster truck, it predated Tamiya's Blackfoot by at least a few years. Anybody getting into hobby-grade RC back in ...

Re: PB Mini Mustang Refurb

That's an awesome paint job, Dadio...gotta love those straight, clean lines. I bet that wasn't easy! Well done. 8)

Re: The Presto Resto

Nice job on the bumper. Bumpers for some old Kyosho cars were almost impossible to find, especially the Optima, back in the day. You could never find one that wasn't beat up to hell, or priced affordably, so as they say: "Necessity is the mother of invention", and I made my own, too. I thi...

Re: Advice on new RC for my kid

Derek hit on all the kit options, but of all the mentions, I'd go with the Ultima as it's not all plastic, it'll handle modern brushless power, it's not as complex as the 4WD versions, and it just looks great. Ultima re-re would be a great choice.

Re: PB Mini Mustang driveshafts

How big are the PB's balls? PB does stand for Prodigious Balls.... Seriously though, how much bigger than 5mm diameter are they? So you're asking me to go home and measure my balls? Sure, that should only take a minute. Any more than that and you're not measuring 'em, you're pleasuring 'e...

Re: Best cold air intake?

I think to see any decent gains from a CAI, of course you need the ECU to recognize the increased airflow...but another factor is exhaust. If you're getting more flow in, but the exhaust is the same restrictive stock exhaust, gains would probably be minimal if any. My Magnum has a Flowmaster stainle...

Re: Kyosho Optima Mid Shed Find

The rear arms and outer parts--uprights and axle shafts--are about all that's common between an Optima and a Mid rear end.

Re: Project TLRampage

Staying home most of the time due to this virus situation at least means I'm making a lot of progress with my RC projects. For this one, I got the body mounts fabricated. BodyMounts1.jpg BodyMounts2.jpg And a few pics with the body mounted. I probably won't be mounting the wing, because the Octane b...

Re: the answer is: Marui Hunter (resto)

Nice, I'll look forward to your resto. After restoring my brother's Galaxy and currently working on a Shogun, the Marui cars indeed each all had major design flaws and bad weak links, they were all quite fragile. They were really good runners though, until they inevitably broke.

Re: Marui Shogun Restoration

After a lot of painstaking black paint removal, most of it overspray on the outside of the body that was obvious when looking at it over a white piece of paper, it's ready to be repainted. I'm lucky to be able to salvage this original body, even with a few cracks and flaws, and not have to buy a rep...
