RC10 HOT TRICK BUILD - BLACK OR WHITE PLASTIC PARTS???
Hello everyone,
I am intersted in building an RC10 Hot Trick Stuff shelfer.
I wanted to pose the question which is better for this build.
Original white plastic parts or black plastic parts?
Which would hold more value?
Transmissions? Belt, Stealth?
Rims & Tires ETC...
You get my drift.
All suggestions are welcome as I mostly have all if not every option to work with.
Thank you all in advance...

Re: RC10 HOT TRICK BUILD - BLACK OR WHITE PLASTIC PARTS???
i would personally go with white if i had it.
why are you worried about the value? whenever you build a car build it for you. how you want it, and not just so it pleases others. i mean really it will be sitting on your shelf not mine. a cars value is only worth what someone will give you for it.. but a sentimental value can be much greater if its built for you by you the way you want it.
ps.. if you choose t go with black a lot of the parts are still available new.

A Hot Trick build would make more sense with white parts and a 6 gear/MIP rear end going by proper time period.

Re: RC10 HOT TRICK BUILD - BLACK OR WHITE PLASTIC PARTS???
I have new in pack white parts. I have the belt trannies and the stealth.
The 6 gear is the beefy looking tranny correct? Not sure but I know I have them all, some with thorps etc.
I would want to do it period correct.
How about rims/tire selection?
Original style or can Tecnacrafts be added?
How about shocks?
I have the gold / the olive colored ones with the metal black caps etc?
Aluminum shock retainers.
As u can see I really want to do it justice as I love RC10's and want to make the ultimate Shelfer with what I have in parts. Thanks..

Re: RC10 HOT TRICK BUILD - BLACK OR WHITE PLASTIC PARTS???
Here's some pictures of a period-correct one: http://robobugs.solarbotics.net/RC10%20HOT%20TRICK.html
One of the side braces was cut down, but otherwise it's a decent example.
Here's an oval build with the oval/lowering kit: http://dirtoval.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=5&pos=0
Tecnacraft wheels were available at the time, so those would be fine. Personally I would shoot for the all gold shocks with white hardware, including 3 piece jellybeans... but just my 2 cents. Hope this helps.

The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

Re: RC10 HOT TRICK BUILD - BLACK OR WHITE PLASTIC PARTS???
I'm surprised that no one mentioned dying the plastic parts red.
Re: RC10 HOT TRICK BUILD - BLACK OR WHITE PLASTIC PARTS???
Meh, don't waste your time... box up the parts and send 'em to me and I'll get rid of them for you.
In all seriousness, if you are building it for yourself then do it how you like. If you have most of the parts already, build it up and see what you think. If you like the outcome - shelf it. If not, tear down and try something different.
If your goal is to sell it, then white parts, gold shocks and 6 gear would be my guess at the most desireable configuration.

It would look cool with bright red parts! Stay away from dark red dye and watch the pot as it boils so you get the right red colour!shodog wrote:I'm surprised that no one mentioned dying the plastic parts red.

Re: RC10 HOT TRICK BUILD - BLACK OR WHITE PLASTIC PARTS???
Thank you guys.
You have given me quite a few ideas. I love the pics. Mike your HT RC10 is smokin. It is basically what I want to build but without all the electronics and battery. A little busy for my taste and shelf. I am still trying to get a handle on placing pics on here. I am also still working on my HT Big Boys Hybrid. That should be nice
.
So as I do get a handle on pics I will be able to post some of my rare collection ( As everyone here has )

Re: RC10 HOT TRICK BUILD - BLACK OR WHITE PLASTIC PARTS???
pull the parts out earlier than you think you should... you may THINK the color is still too light but it will darken as it cools and also over time. you can put them back in if you dont get them dyed good enough.slotcarrod wrote:It would look cool with bright red parts! i think its even in rpms howto.
