That's a wonderful and rare video of the very beginning of rc racing and to hear the voice of George Siposs narrating the film makes it even better. By the way that other guy in the last picture was Roy Moody who was a legend around these parts for his 1/8 scale sprint cars and unfortunately he just passed away in 2008 I believe. If you go over to dirtoval.com there is a memorial on the 1st screen to Roy Moody. Gene Husting in his videos references these early activities as his inspiration when he started to become intrigued with these cars around 1969.

Very cool video. Roy had all of those original cars still in his basement (museum) when he passed. I'm sure they are all still with Roberta. Every time I went over there, it was a lesson on the history of R/C racing. Roy spoke very highly of George.

Was pretty cool to see Roy's ROAR #2 membership card in person, too. :)

Sweet! I recognize Anaheim Stadium in the background of the race towards the beginning of the video, also host of the 1967 MLB All Star Game coincidently http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Stadium_of_Anaheim

That vid was great, different times................. The only thing that makes me sad is, all these guys got together-handmade all this stuff, and built something--a movement if you will, so how many Americans of the average age here (I'd guess around 34) could make something like this.
Like I said--different times

I am sorry, that has the to be one of the coolest things I have seen on the net PERIOD. I LOVE STUFF LIKE THAT! How I would give to go back and see something like that. I hate to say it, but most of that info is going to go away forevery if it hasn't already.

My thanks to tomolupus for posting that link!

what are the specs of these cars? I have the time and tools to do a scratch build . this part of the hobby has long died out but would love to give it a try.
