JRX Pro battery box and Lipo and modern battery options?

Post by Keyz »

Hey all,
Have used a set of calipers to measure the battery box within about half a mil

134.5mm x 47mm x 24mm

1) Has anyone found any lipo packs that fit?

Prefer hardpack/ROAR approved, but they all seem to be too big?

Yeah Racing 4000mah LP0042 is closet I've seen at 135mm x 46.5mm x 22.5mm. Seems to be softpack in a Nicad/Nimh stick pack package, so not hardpack per-se.

2) A 3300mah side by side pack fits fine on the NiMH side.
What about 3800?
4200's don't seem to in side by side.

Debated putting this under the Tech thread, but is related to Losi the most?

Thanks!

The bottom of [url=http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=6453&p=95184&hilit=losi+lipo#p95184]this post[url] says "The SMC/dirt oval spec 3200 lipo fits perfectly"

Still very interested to learn any other options!

Hi Keyz,I run the Yeah racing 3200.They fit in allmost anything and give pleanty of run time to finish a heat in stock and 19 turn.Im not sure if they fit the standard Losi box as mine uses a pure tech battery strap.

Thanks vintage racer!

Those Yeah Racing packs do sound like great value! However yes, I was meaning in the standard battery box and these packs seem to be bigger than the standard box size.

Still, someone may have had luck with them, so please be sure to help us out if you know!

It seems batteries are just bigger these days. I cannot fit any of my Nimh batteries in my Jrx-Pro. Instead of looking around for batteries I just sloted the two wider screws that hold the battery box down, this way you can slide the battery box toward the front of the car.

Ive been running the Thunder Power 40c 4200 and the Orion 3800's in my JRX2. I cut the back off the battery hold down and put a piece of foam between the servo and battery, works great. The batteries just squeeze into the rear bulkhead.

I had the same problem in my Pro that I ran at the vonats.

Scroll up a few to see the pics in the link.

I simply used an RC10 battery cup held down with 3m outdoor double sided tape. Worked great and I didn't have to drill new holes in the chassis.

In my Pro SE I took my Losi hinged battery bar/box out of the front and replaced it with a Velcro batter strap (i used the same coutnersunk screws and put a hole in the velcro strap then used a washer and a nut on each side, and now combined with trimming the rear bulkhead battery box almost anything fits in there.

I used the Yeah Racing 3200 packs in my Pro SE with no issues with just the velcro strap and non modifed bulkhead. The SMC 4100 24c should fit as well, judging by the measurements on the SMC site. I purchased a SMC 5200 24c, but used the measurements from Tower Hobbies, which were wrong, so I had to just trim the top portion of the battery box on the bulkhead off.
