rj, can i take 2 lessor capacity 2s 7.2v packs and hook those together to gain capacity? like 2 1600mah 2s lipo's connected in series to make 3200mah 7.2v?
Yes, and no.
If you did hook them up in series, it would actually be 14.8 volts (3.7 x 4). If you hooked the two 1600 mah packs in parallel, then you would be OK. That would be a 7.4v 3200 mah pack. You could actually call it a 2S2P pack.
However, I'd not hardwire them as you would lose the ability to balance the cells. Make an adapter to connect them for operation. And then charge them individually.
Bought my first RC10 in 1989

this thing gives me wood...

still alot to do to it, lots of polishing and little detail things. (and i borked dying the parts red so i'll have to find some more white bits to try all that again...) but its finally starting to look like something.

my white tuber is next, and i think i'll pretty much build it with the same components.

the dude who welded up this one for me is really cool and quick when he gets to your reserved spot.

this was his first rc10, i'm sure now that he's done one and got familiar with the components he'd be able to do another with less of a learning curve. pm me if you want his email.

he makes them out of mig'd steel rod, i could hop the cage and it wouldnt bend. and its alot lighter than i thought it was going to be. with brushless and lipo this little sucker is gonna scoot!

any of you guys (hedgehog) have an opinion on running a mamba max 5700 with a 3s lipo pack?

castlecreations states that a 3s lipo on a 5700 is 60mph capable. not that i would ever want to run it that fast, but i defintely want more power than i need.

would the drivetrain take that much abuse?

yep, it was always intended to be a runner.

i might run rpm arms on it just to have a flexy area to take some stress. just been waiting for some white rpm arms to show up somewhere.

I have some NIP fronts if you've got something cool to trade for them. 8)

well i just ordered a Hyperion EOS1210i and all the goodies for it from maxamps.com, gonna also get a 6000mah 7.2 lipo as well from them but if i break out the order i get more off the second purchase...

i'm kinda torn between a mamba max or novak gtb system, novak came out with an improved speed control that takes advantage of the spectrum-style radios and also incorporated a low voltage cutoff. the novak wont clash with the red like the green mamba would. but the mambas are quite a bit cheaper...

The mamba is solid. Check http://www.b-p-p.com for some great prices. It also has a built in low-voltage cutout and a very very nice UI. The usb link is great. Traction control, reverse power, brake power, punch control, as well as accel and brake curves that you can adjust. I run one on my e-savage on 14 cells with a feigao 8L... it screams. Anyway, I dont know a whole lot, but Ive had nothing with good experiences with the mamba max.
