Future Tuber Buildup

Post by mikedealer »

Well im finally getting settled into my new space, unpacking boxes and organizing all my crap and parts, and ran across my digital camera finally yesterday, and a box of parts i was planning to use on a new tuber build.

although i had some crazy ideas of using cantilever laydown shocks, laying it out on the chassis makes it look really stupid and weird. Havent decided or picked out a tranny yet, but i have a mip, mip change box, 2.25 stealth, and a 2.65 RPM, probably going to use 2.65 RPM in the end so i can use a nice kickass motor.

Parts are picked up from ebay and various places:
- GT Front Bulkhead (im going to cut center peice and push the bulkhead tight to give it a tighter fit and slighty shorter wheelbase)
- GT Front Arms
- GT Rear Arms (im probably going to use another rear alloy arm cause i think the car will be too wide)
- Aluminum Front Steering Knuckles, C Hubs, Rear Hub Carriers, and Rear arm mounts (blue will be stripped)
- Holeshot (i think) front steering servo saver assembly (pretty cool peice)
- RC4wd x11 shocks (or x10 i forget)
- RC4wd Rod Ends (i will be making approx 1/4" aluminum turnbuckles on a lathe)
- RPM rear bulkhead, which i may replace at some point, but if i keep this ill dye it black.

Tires and rims are going to be a problem... If i make this a "1/10th scale" sized buggy, tires and wheels are limited and i will need shorter rear arms. But if i got 1/8th scale (longer length), i can keep the rear arms, and use some nice panther truck paddles and jconcepts j82 front tires and rims, although i would like aluminum rims, i may settle for jconcepts j82 white plastic rims.

electronics i have no idea yet.. but probably a brushless setup at this point will go in.

The Tuber style will be a protech mix, and a hpi baja style mix of flavor tuber style lol..

Just for another news update too on the tubers... my workspace is being setup today and all this week, converting a shed over to have some nice usable space, and running underground electricity maybe too after a home depot run later. Later this week i will be hard at work planning and making all sorts of new stuff... will keep posting updates here for now.

Tube cars are really pretty cool, but I don't think I had ever seen one until this forum started. ;)
