RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
New to the site. Restoring three three RC10T's to original and one to play with. Can anyone tell me will RC10GT shocks fit the RC10T? Also, what aftermarket or current bodies are easily modified to fit the RC10T?
Any advice as to what parts swap over etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
yes, GT shocks will swap over. as far as bodies go, I think any of the associated truck bodies will fit T-T4 with some modifications, most of which being the use of different body mounts, RPM adjustable width in the front, and I'm not sure what people have done in the rear, lots of members here have done it and I'm sure they can give you a better answer.
If you don't want to do any experimenting or mod's Mrlexan here on the board offers the finest reproductions available of the original 10T body.

Thanks for the information. I am bidding on two sets of shocks for the GT and the auction is almost over.
Re: RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
What aftermarket shock sets will fit or would need minimal modifications? What shock bushings will work also with stock arms?
Re: RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
What is a good reasonable set of wheels and tires that will work besides originals that will look good?

Re: RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
Which rear axles do you have? 1/4" are the older style, 3/16" are the newer ones. There are more wheels available to fit 3/16" axles, but there are still 1/4" wheels out there. T3/T4 wheels are 3/16", so any of those will fit, and the same style front wheels will fit as well. You can fit wheels with a 12mm hex to either axle using an HPI adapter set, costs $2, but finding front wheels might be tricky.

Eh, the stock Associated shocks are pretty much the best on the market, so I would stick with them.Snorman70 wrote:What aftermarket shock sets will fit or would need minimal modifications? What shock bushings will work also with stock arms?
What arms are you using? If they are the older style, and the shock fits into a slot in the arm, then use the metal ball with the flange on one end. If you have the newer style front arms, you can use that one or the plastic ball, if you just make sure the shock doesn't hit the shock tower. For the rear, stick with the metal ball to keep the shock aligned.
Re: RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
Thanks for the information. Do you have any recommendations as to a moderate street type wheel and tire. I do have a couple of original sets of wheels and tires that have never been mounted that I don't really want to use. I currently have five trucks. Two are RTR's and three that need a little work to get running. I have one that I have had since new and it still runs great. I am working on them first and then will turn my attention to one that I can modify and have some real fun with.
Where can a guy find the ball ends? I see some out there close, but don't want to purchasee only to have them not work. Also the stock ones are metal and most of the ones I see for sale for the RC1ot are plastic.

The t4 front threaded shocks are a nice upgrade 1.02 front the rear are 1.39 instead of 1.32 but still work I have a set on my rc10 with no problems just be sure you limit down travel a little.

The b4/t4 caster blocks, steering blocks, king pin and front axel will fit the rc10, rc10t, rc10gt if you drill out the hole to fit the older hinge pin they are much stronger than the original and easy to find if you break. you have to swich all 4 peices though.

Re: RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
Do you want on-road tires, or just radial style off-road tires? HPI and Pro-Line make good versions of each.
Metal shock pivot balls:

Plastic shock pivot balls:

Associated has all their old manuals on their site, www.rc10.com you can use them to search for part numbers and see what will fit what trucks.

Re: RC10GT shocks fit RC10T
Thanks for the replies. This really helps.
If I wanted to use all aluminum or carbon suspension parts front and rear, what manufacuturer would you recommend that would take the least amount of modifications?

Using B4/T4 caster blocks/steering blocks/kingpin/axle will also have the same affect on the front suspension geometry of the RC10/10T as the RPM steering enhancement kit.cmain wrote:The b4/t4 caster blocks, steering blocks, king pin and front axel will fit the rc10, rc10t, rc10gt if you drill out the hole to fit the older hinge pin they are much stronger than the original and easy to find if you break. you have to swich all 4 peices though.
