how to glue foam tire for my pan car
so im all most there with my new car but i would like to know how to glue foam tires does anyone know of an informative site that could explain it to a layman
regards Paul
i got this of rc tec its seems very messy is there a easier way
1. Roughen up the rim so that the tire cement will stick. A course emerycloth will do.
2. Put a lay of rubber cement (available at hardware stores) on both the tire and the rim, let dry for a hour or two maybe overnight, if you don't let it dry the cement will come off or will be sueeze toward one side of the rim.
3. Then get a coffee can filled with lacquer thinner and dunk both tire and rim for to soften the glue.
4. Slide the tire over the rim , set aside to dry overnight, then trim the tire.

Just like you said in the first post but with contact cement should work.
You can also wrap wax paper around the rim after the glue sets then fold it over 90 degrees to stick out the side of the rim. Put the tire on and pull the wax paper slowly away.

This may sound a little odd but I've always used Woodweld. It gives you a little more time than rubber cement and is much stronger. 18 years of making my own dirt oval tires and I've never had one come off the rim

Re: how to glue foam tire for my pan car
I glued new donuts on a set of rims and followed RC4less instructions down at the bottom of this page http://rc4less.com/Customer_Service/c32/index.html only difference was that I didn't buy the $20 quart +shipping of 3M contact cement from McMaster-Carr but instead bought a 4 oz. bottle of the Weldwood contact cement at Home Depot and used the MEK solvent as instructed. Everything worked as instructions had stated and after a days rest I trued up my new tires and they look great.
