Tower Hobbies, 0/2 on order accuracy, but good cust svc!

Post by flipwils11 »

Since getting back into RC with the help of this forum over the past few months, I've done a lot of ebay transactions (but no more since I closed my paypal account, scheisters). I've ordered twice from Tower Hobbies which I remember well for the catalogs I got as a kid in the 1980's when I lived and breathed RC. Both orders have had issues though.

Order #1: Two B2 plastic gear covers. Shipped in a padded envelope so they were squashed and badly damaged when I got them. Tower sent replacements (in a box) for free.

Order #2: Received today. A bunch of stuff, including a set of the Associated front and rear shock springs of varying colors. They forgot to send the fronts but in return I got an HPI Racing "Temp Gun" that I never ordered. According to their site it's about $28 and used for tuning nitro engines. WTH? I called them and they said to keep it and they'd send the front spring set free of charge.

At least their customer service is good, but boy, they aren't making much money off of me with their screw-ups. What do I do with this HPI Heat Gun now? lol, if I can sell it for $15 or $20 I guess that adds to the $30 off when you spend $200 coupon Tower gave me on the order I just placed.

temp gun, as in an infrared temp gun?

if you ever go brushless you'll need it to monitor motor/batt/esc temps.

Theres about a million uses for a temp gun. :)

I've been ordering from Tower for many many years now and have never gotten an incorrect order. Thats odd that they would mess up yours like that.
