Hi Guys,
I have a partially built kit that has some strange things going on. The guy had it in a closet since the late 80's and many of the parts are still in bags. The main problem is that all 4 shocks are the same length (tall rear ones). The manual is the b/w one with the car jumping on the front and the other manual is like the yellow one but has the white cover. The manual clearly states that front and rear shocks should be different lengths. There is no reason to believe that there have been any shenanigans involving the kit, so I was wondering if the 4 same size shocks could be a production line mistake or if any ever came with all 4 the same length? The tires are the 7 ribbed versions and have no writing on the sidewalls at all. The gold pieces seem to be of the lighter variety. The box ends are stamped, not the stickers, and the address is the edinger address. Any info would be appreciated.

My best guess is that someone goofed when packing the box

Sounds like you have an early Edinger and if it's new unbuilt, it's very rare! Look at the first post of this thread: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=13059
As for the shocks, that looks like a AE boo boo, if the kit is new in box! Just find a new set of short front shocks on eBay, and use all your original plastic collars, shock pistons and cap sealing washer so that it remains an Edinger.

Thanks for the info! I checked that thread and I'd say it's a mid to late edinger. It has the more opaque gear cover, but it's molded like the clear one (it's the left one in the picture in that thread showing the covers). It looks like this kit has the correct short/long springs, but full sets of the rear shocks (all 4 pistons are the long versions, too). Maybe I'll post in the bst looking for some front shocks to make it correct. Only thing I'd worry about is getting a close shade of anodizing. Something else weird, but I'll bet was the work of the previous owner....there are hand written numbers on most of the bags (in black marker) that match the factory stickers/tags that are on each one. And one more thing that might date it... the wipers on the speed controller are curved like the ones in the picture where it mentions the "parma" type. I don't have anything to compare it too, but they sure look the same to me.
