damn, pearl paint is a bitch. looks like mucus and lays uber thin.
i think i used a whole can on the center section, i'm going to back it tonight with white.

i was able to take some pics of the car with the body off, but then they wouldn't load onto my computer.
i'll try again tonite.

I like to back pearl with a light coat of silver before white...makes the pearl color really POP

Nice paint on that shell. It looks very clean.

thanks, the shell itself is a very poor repro. wavy, curves out at the bottom, it think it reacted with the paint too. the nose cracked (where they normaly do) but it hadn't even been run yet. i can't wait for mr lexan to make a new run once he gets settled.

it's hard to see but the side pods are candy purple.

i got a chance to race it wednesay evening. i thought it did rather well, i was the one holding it back. (being out of the racing scene for 17 years builds up alot of rust. lol).

after technical difficulties in the first heat (shock tower fell off due to tiny screws holding it on) i was able to run a very clean heat, finishing 6 or 7th out of 9.
the main was sloppy, i finished in the same spot but it was ugly.

friday i went to rchr to participate in the vonats practice and i bent an upper tie rod. i got a set of ft b4 titainum rods and broke my axle carrier while trying to pry off the ball cup. rpm heavy duties on order from cline.

so i guess i'll run the b4 this week due to that set back. i'm still really happy with the car, it's a box stock setup and runs pretty well, with some tuning and more practice on my part it will be a fine vintage racer that i may even run in the modern classes from time to time.

Your Jrx looks sweet with that simple but effective colour scheme. Sounds like you're having fun with it aswell.... these things have got to be run/raced to be fully enjoyed IMO :D

Will be interesting to hear how it compares to the B4.

Really makes me want to put a Jrx2 runner together - there seems to be a surprising number of RC10s still being ran over here.... but i've yet to see a JRx2 pit itself amongst the modern machinery 8)

That's great you are running it. You may have just inspired me to take my dining room JRX2 center piece and put it on the road. Anybody comment on the 5 link at the track?

there was another guy there who is a much better driver than me that was cutting some pretty fast laps.
the jrx2 has stood the test of time pretty well, the 5 link likes the "washboards".

i need more practice in able to truly speak about the x2's capability.

The five link does very well on rough stuff compared to modern cars which seem to have very limited suspension travel. Back in the day tracks were rougher and it paid off I think.

It might be too late but I would use some kind of chassis protector to keep the bottom looking new. Thats really the only part that is hard to come by in like new condition and when you do find one its uber expensive. If it were mine and I was going to race it I would get a basket case off ebay for cheap and use that chassis.

I use Losi Chassis protection material, I have a mint 5 link chassis that I didn't want to scratch up, but couldn't let it sit on the shelf. So I found this stuff and made a lexan cover for the bottom of the chassis. Now it's well protected, and the lexan cover actually makes is slip over larger rough bumps.

too late. it wore pretty fast during the night before the vonats and the first practice day.
she's not so pretty anymore. which is fine because i don't keep shelfers, i run all my cars.
