Missing bolt for 6 gear transmission

Does anyone know what kind of bolt goes on the end of the differential shaft? Mine stripped out and I don't have any more, there is not a part number in the original manual.

You mean the lock nut on the end of the diff? It's a 5-40 nylock.

How did you strip one of those?

I was just rebuilding the diff today and tried to put it back on and noticed the diff was slipping real bad. Took a closer look and saw that the bolt just came right off and the threads were pretty much wore off. This car is so old it doesn't surprise me though.

Thanks for you help, just ordered some new ones.

I hope you or the previous owner didn't put a 4-40 nut on that shaft. That would pretty much do it it.
