Many years ago I remember this car being releaed onto the racing scene and I always wanted to learn more about them or even own one.
It is well known these cars have a long wheelbase but it seems like these is a lot of caster built in also. The word is that these cars are good on the straights but not so good on tight twisty tracks and I can see why.
I bought this car from a member here a while back and I was happy to pay a good price for this stunner. Ive done little with it till lately but with a lexan undertray now fitted Im confident of taking this car for a spin.
I had originaly planned on running this car with a KO CX-3 esc but a trade came up and the unit went to another good home. Im yet to decide what to go with now. I have a period radio set waiting to go in and have a new B&R stock motor in the rear. Still a little way to go but getting there.
Man this is nice, you should have thrown this into the Traxxas section. Was this a New build or resto car? I am building up an SWB TRX-1 right now with KO Propo Electrics as well, except for newer "school" 2.4GHz KO radio.
Darn it, I forgot there was a section for TRAXXIS! Oh well.
The car came from Tom from memory (HKP) and it was supposed to be a new built car and from the looks of it i would say it is with a few small exceptions. It has never been used anyway.
The paint job got me hooked and is a real credit to the artist that did it. Ive swapped out the plastic outdrive carriers for steel items but will need some spur gears also at some stage. Im sure the stock motor will do fine with the one thats in there.
I have a QC3 I could run but was thinking something a little more period correct. Any suggestions?
As far as speedos go, there's lots of period stuff that'd look good on there. Mine has a 411P, for the black looks. Beware as the chassis is fairly narrow really for the big esc's from the 90/92 era.
Looks awesome

Life is short. Waste it wisely.
I have a brand new SWB chassis that I recently removed from the packet. Apart from being shorter, the front profile of the chassis is also narrower.
Looking at using it as a template to adjust the dimensions of a used chassis.....
Thing is, the rear arm mounting holes are not parallel, not even close
I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
Thanks for the compliments guys but I only paid the $$ to buy this stunner. (Ok so Ive added a few choice decals too but hey)
Neil I like your sig, the TRX-1 has a heap of street cred and just seeing one (or possibly a couple at some point) motoring around will be well worth a little bit of dust on those whitey white suspension arms.
The undertray came from COBRA KEN who had the shell repro'd also. I have a spare undertray and a repro shell sitting in a box as spares.
I reckon your (or any!) TRX-1 would oooze street credit with a period AUSSIE PURGE FORCE ESC!
Mach 7 was the keypad (blue, later black, Tekin 410K later again...) variant, the Purge force the blue cased type and Mach 1 the budget style, from memory.
I have a TRX-1 in semi-resto state, but the prior owner felt compelled to dye all the nylon parts fluorescent yellow, so I'm afraid I am going to have to do a black nylon re-build.
Of course, most TRX-1 parts or equivalents are still available out there, but replacing every nylon part with new ones is not really a "restoration" ... and then I would feel compelled to build another one with the old parts anyway!
COBRA KEN undertray? Cool touch. How is the quality of the repro? It looks pretty good from here...
I recently received a Traxxas project car and I had questions about the differences / similarities between the TRX-1, TRX-3 & Blue Eagle transmissions. Based on pictures I've seen, the trans that's currently in the car is from a blue...

The TRX-1 case has 'TRX' molded into it on the side opposite the motor plate whereas the TRX-3 case does not.
The TRX-3 trans also has a slightly lower CG due to the diff gear being closer to the chassis. I mean literaly you can almost see it...
So I had enough parts lying around and I decided F it, I'm going to build another one. Here are some pics, I am not going to use everything in the obligatory money shot parts pile. But it will be pretty much built from new parts with some other...

OK so I was thinking about taking this in a different direction. I picked up a 2628X off the one deal. Realized after it shipped that it is for use with the 2629X long wheel base chassis. So now I want to make a LWB TRX-3 with a Lethal Weapon and...
So I am having a revision here and am rebuilding this TRX-1. So far I've got the transmission rebuilt and I pressed on a steel top gear. It was a little notchy so I beveled the idler gear slightly and ran the trans in with a drill. It spins...

Just messing around. I want to set this thing up for carpet off road . I was putting together my version of the TCP wide front configuration (the arms are impossible to find).
So the TRX-1 front can run short TRX-3 arms, regular long 1931s, and...
I always knew I'd be adding the TRX-1 to my RC family, but I didnt expect to get one now. My neighbor got this in trade, and hes not interested in vintage RC so I traded him a few things for it...
Although its in good condition, its got some...

Good info..thanks guys. There is a diff rebuild kit for the Blue Eagle LS on ebay right now. Will it work for this TRX1? If so Id rather buy the kit instead of having to hunt down all the items I need.
Here are a few pics of my other TRX-1 builds. One is almost complete. Still looking for parts to finish up.

Isn't there a non-rare alternative like using black or used parts just to put together a racer that represents the functional aspect of the TRX-1?
there is that alternative but some of the guys around here that have some of the most impressive cars...
Well it has a took a while, but it,s finally finished apart form stickering up.
Chassis, topdeck and towers from Fibrelyte, all the other parts are new
Now the big decision, do I run it? hmmmm

my TRX3 is still missing the white bumper.....
I've been getting back into the hobby this summer after a 20 year hiatus when my daughter spotted my box of RC cars on a shelf in my woodshop. After a couple of father/daughter afternoons spent cleaning parts and assessing wear, I put...

Exactly. The leading edge of the sidewalls is cut straight up with a 90-degree edge, while the trailing edge has a more typical front forward curved edge cut. If it was cut more like the one in the last TRX-1 box picture, with the front edge cut...
