Re: Things people throw out these days!!
When I was a kid we used to sneak into the local dump after hours and drag home bicycle parts, sometimes whole bikes. Then we would mess around with them in our our garages for days on end trying to cobble together some cool rides.
Back then only my dad worked and my folks could only afford one bike to share between the three of us boys so we did what we could to make up for it.

nice find. Best I ever found was a snowblower for the front of a lawn mower...and there was a sign that said no salvaging allready
. If you are gonna use some threaded rod check out ebay for some headers for it and mount them the same way. Little threaded rod can go a long way.

Had a pieceof 3/8 rod.nut and washers and got one done.Works great. The header idea would look fantastic. Not sure if the prop is the right size but it turned out good.

Find a used .60 engine, an ebay 4-channel radio and give it a whirl. If you make a smoking hole it wouldn't be that big a dent in the walllet.
Excellent find BTW.

I may as well run it over with my truck. I would get the same result
Got the other one done with the threaded rod.

Re: Things people throw out these days!!
Thats pretty mad that you found those down the dump!! I guess just the hassle of selling these for some people is too much to bother with? Planes like these must have cost a fair bit when they were new? Are they ARF jobbies or are they kit built? They look to be really nicely made if its the latter!
I found my Clodbuster down the local tip (thats how I ended up getting into this whole vintage R/C thing/mess) But they've now got a sign up saying words to effect of 'no salvaging'
As kids we used to build Gokarts (Gravity racers) The local tip was a great supply for bits & peices - from old wood to pram wheels. Kids don't seem to do that sort of thing anymore, which is probably just aswell if there is nowhere to find readily available parts
Anyway... I digress

They have a no salvaging sign at our dump to but I ignore it. Its not ilegal to salvage at a landfill so whatcan they do about it.If someone told me to put these back i would just give em a slap

Re: Things people throw out these days!!
biggest trophy we found at a recycling center was a giant simplicity snowblower with a bad front bearing and broken flapper because of it. I think about $125.00 bucks later we had a monster of a snowblower ready to rock and roll.
