trx1 and rad2 restoration

Post by freakydan1 »

right here we have my restoration jobs that are still on going the trx1 i have restored has had hpi parts until i find the right traxxas parts to go in it. the trx1 came into my hands after a car swap got 8 cars for a truck and the guy said i have 2 more that's more than likely fit for the bin or parts and told me i can have them if i wished to. so i took them anyway and thought to try to get at least one up and running but now that i have semi restored the one i want to do more its so addictive.

So onto the pictures.
This is what they looked like when i received them

since then i have cleaned the one ordered new parts and job lots of parts on the bay to get her to this stage

Nice job! Both are really cool vintage cars. What other cars did you get? Oh, and welcome to the forum!

nice work bringing them back from the brink.........

if you wanted to make them restored somewhat accurately, you can still buy the teflon coated shocks from tower hobbies, the longs are on the front, and xlong are on the rear. They are a nice kit, but you will need springs.

the caps are teflon coated as well as the bodies, so they won't be exactly like the correct shocks, which had the blue caps. you can still buy the nitro hawk caps that are blue at tower as well to make them look just like the originals.

In pics the TRX1 motorplate looks awfully close to orignal JRX2 one?

Fiberlyte there in the UK offers replacement shock towers for the TRX-1. He can also make them in a thicker Carbon Fiber so you do not have to worry about damaging / snapping your current front tower.
