Some Days Better To Be Lucky
I've had an RC500 4wd 2speed trans build in the works for awhile now and had two stumbling blocks, the first was the front bumper and I lost out on one in a eBay bidding battle with a very high profile collector from out east for a staggering amount which I'm too embarrassed to even repeat. This will not happen for now but maybe some day.
The 2nd was that the motor I have restored and expected to put on this build (an OPS .21) was in need of a new air filter and a exhaust system. At the beginning of January we had some really wonderful weather and I went on a road trip to one of my favorite pickin sites and happened to stumble upon a new air filter in an empty motor box. I figured I'd never find one but unbelievably I did. I couldn't contain my excitement when I told my wife as soon as I got home, of course her response was "are you kidding".
So then the final part of the puzzle for the motor was the McCoy exhaust, period correct to the late 80's. I've searched high and low and not found anything specific to the OPS motor let alone anything, so earlier this week I was sitting at the computer when my eBay search notices popped up and I spotted that there was finally after looking for over a year an email for McCoy headers and another McCoy exhaust. I opened them first and could not believe that in the same auction was the exact McCoy header and exhaust pipe I had been looking for. The auction started at $25 and ran for 5 days but I could see waiting to the end and getting in another bidding war and losing out to my east coast bidding buddy. I immediately asked the seller if he had a price in mind to end the auction right now. I didn't think it would work but it never hurts to ask as someone here always reminds me and what a surprise when he responded "Yes" and with a very reasonable price. Done deal.
Can the bumper be far behind!

Good job Al!
All your good deeds are coming back to you. Bumper can not be too far behind.
That pipe looks familiar
Lets see some pics (nobody is going to give you a hard time)

Re: Some Days Better To Be Lucky
Nope not this time, that lady has lots of OPS parts but not an air filter. This was 2 hours south of me in the land of Chief Illiniwek.mrlexan wrote:Would that be the place I am thinking about?a01butal wrote: At the beginning of January we had some really wonderful weather and I went on a road trip to one of my favorite pickin sites and happened to stumble upon a new air filter in an empty motor box.
