I love talkin' racing....no issues there.

But just to appear to go back on topic:





This was an experiment in mixing colors to make a custom metallic copper. A little peachy for my taste, but overall a success. Not my greatest paint job either, got some bleeds here and there. I was very uninspired that day for design, I just couldnt get anything to look right, so I went just a couple basic stripes with a 2 tone. I probably wont cut it or mount it on anything.

Got bored, so I mounted it yesterday.

Must say, complaints: Body is too short -- Body is too narrow up front, too wide in the center



Too short is obvious, but what you cant see in the photo is how the body is too narrow where the nose tubes mount, it is flared out. Then, if you want to use velcro on the sides of the chassis, the body is about 3/4 ~ 1" too wide on each side.

Back to the Protech I for me, I will run this until it is beat though.

I sprayed the black first, a semi heavy coat, grabbed the plastic bag from the body, crumbled it up into a ball and pressed it into the wet paint. Let it dry, shot the orange, backed it all up with white.

Looks like you really tightened up your lines! That's one of the toughest parts of painting, but it makes a paintjob for me. Nice work!

thanks Thumbs, I am really proud of that one, just got done taking my time to trim up the 2nd protech body for my other car. going to do the exact same layout, but different colors.

For me 2-3 colors with nice sharp lines are my favorite paintjobs. High quality tape and patience are a nice fit for a rattle-can cowboy like myself. I'm not a great painter, but I find it very relaxing and rewarding. I sometimes spend 8 hours on a paint and trim job that would take a great painter under an hour. It's about as close as I get to Banzai gardening. Keep the pics coming! Because I can't read...

Don't feel bad Joey, we all get a case of the runs every now and then. I learned that the hard way after eating a bean burrito I bought out of a vending machine in a truckstop men's room. The guy in stall number 2 warned me, but did I listen...

Seriously, I've had a few (maybe more) go bad. Mine tend to come from high humidity outside or poor preparation and bad cans of paint. I also tend to have a very heavy hand when it comes to coats. It will still look great going around the track. Just run it in the mod class.

Thumb, I know about runs...having your Gall Bladder removed teaches you volumes about runs...although normally I need to tip toe, if I run, it leaks (ewww, I had a bean burrito for breakfast today , and dinner!)

I was using an airbrush, I think I may have under/over thinned the paint, too much/little air pressure, and definitely too heavy of a coat on the one side.

I will pick up a couple more bodies (I'm sure it will take a few months) and keep the same layout and attempt the same paint. I do need to paint a new body for both my 22 and SC trucks, maybe those will be the next victims.

I DID copy my orange/white/black Protech I paint up above, I have decided that will be my buggy paint scheme
