Re: My Contribution to the 25yrs of the RC10 thread
lol, that is my work office, which isn't that much fun, BUT there is a futon in my hobby room for a reason
And now its TRANNY time
I think I can find a new slipper pad at the LSH, if not I will sand the surface a little bit to freshen it up.
I might keep that tranny case for a shelfer, the old one is in great shape. I only paid $8 and change for it any way.
Here is what this thing looks like cleaned up so far. I had to use Associated ball cups on the inner turnbuckle sides in the front to allow for clearance of the longer MIP bellcranks. I used RPM cups everywhere else.

Re: My Contribution to the 25yrs of the RC10 thread
thanks!
I got the tranny as smooth as Rod's wifes bottom, lol, just kidding Rod it's not that smooth
So, this one is ready for electronics and to hit the track
Next up is the CE one. Same resto procedures, but with maybe some different photos of other areas of the resto...suck as the tranny.

Thanks Rod...and I got to post more updates and try to make the last post as far away from the post of me being a lazy ass of calling the Cadillac edition a CE for short hand...what a tardslotcarrod wrote:That turned out great Anthony! Here we go for this buggy
It's pretty much in very good condition. It took a really hard hit to the left nose plate, but I think it was only ran a few times before it hit something hard and then it was retired. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. It was put together really good. There was loctite on all the chassis screws, and ball studs and everything was well greased. The chassis itself is in great shape, almost a shelfer it it wasn't for a few drilled out holes.
Here are some photo updates
loctite fest Some intuitive engineering, lol Ready for cleaning. I will leave the tranny for later to clean, for some reason like getting the tranny at the end of the resto. I think that way I take my time

Re: My Contribution to the 25yrs of the RC10 thread
It's all about quality Rod, if it only takes just minutes to satisfy her, then I can go back to my hobby room and get back to what's important
I got my shafts polished already
and the pins too.
Here are my weapons of choice for cleaning and whitening this time
I washed everything good and threw the whites in a bleach bath for 3 hours with a 60/40 bleach to water ratio. Now I am in the process of the 20min boil. I'm off on vacation tomorrow so I will get it partially assembled before I go. I'm headed on a read trip from Nova Scotia to VA for about 10 days. Anyone know of some good hobby shops around Manassas, VA?

Re: My Contribution to the 25yrs of the RC10 thread
After my vacation, I was eager to get back at it. Right away I noticed the extra ballstuds in the bellcranks as I was installing the tie rods. I guess I was trying to but as much stuff on the buggy before I had to leave it and went a bit ADHD
I hit the shock rebuild right after. First taking them apart, cleaning everything good, then while rebuilding them adding a very thin coating of green slime to each side of the o-rings. These shocks are smoother than the ones I did on the Worlds car somehow. They turned out really nice.
Next, it's tranny time! First off good trannys don't have bushes
This tranny was well lubed and dirty so it's having a bath and a good scrubbing. I noticed in the photo that the balls weren't dropped in this tranny yet, so I will remove the balls and wash them up
It's nylons will get some Simple Green then a 60/40 bleach bath just like the rest of the car.
