ok this is starting to get really weird. maybe i should get these before they are 399 bucks per sheet.

was just looking for a käfer (beetle) body to build a nice baja bug based on
a shortened rc10, or better a frog. this is what i found on the bay.

btw. anyone ever seen a trailing arm conversion for the front end of the rc10? if i was a skilled metal worker i would start fabricating one. or a complete set front and rear for the aluminum tub without cutting the chassis.
have some ideas, but no tools

I was playing with similar ideas for the front: using a kyosho front end from a tomahawk or any other 1000 series chassis.
The problem is these parts are so rare you can probably have new ones machined for the same price if you know where to look.

Parma has a lexan replica of the sandscorcher available in its online shop (PSE). Here's mine:

I have the capability to do the same for about the same price as the link, but figured that it would be a mute point and not worth the effort. FYI. There are a couple of repos on ebay... DON'T buy them, my opinion of course, but they are either transparent or done on white paper requiring trimming. Other than the ones on TC and the one's that I do, there are none that can compare. (I told myself I would not dip into the repo world unless they were as good as the TC sets.)

that's one unique chassis. i was also thinking of that parma beetle body.
is that wing included? any decals with it? i don't like painting front and rear lights.

i guess i'll use a frog chassis for this project. pretty cheap to get by and
there is a guy on tamiyaclub that sells awesome aluminum rims for the frog and scorcher. withe these or the original scorcher wheels this should turn out really nice. imo the rc10 is a little too wide for a beetle body.

although less scale, the kyosho beetle is my favorite baja bug, much better than that heavy sand scorcher.

thanks for the link. i guess i'll get me a set of these srb typ a decals as soon as i have the right beetle body. actually i should do some other bodies before.

1 chevy silverado for rc10gt

1- gmc sierra for rc10gt

2 ford f150 for rc10gt

1 sidewinder for my rc10

2 hpi chevy monte carlo for budweiser and goodwrench paint scheme

lying around, all cut out and waiting to get painted. guess i should do these first before buying another body. man i don't have much stuff compared to some guys in this forum, but i should stop buying more than i can paint

why not the front end off a tamiya srb?

they look almost exactly like a vw front end, and can be had for relatively cheap.

you're right,

they look pretty much like a the real thing.
but i don't know if it would make that much sense to use just the front end. would this look good? i would buy a whole srb chassis if i was convinced it can take a beating. from what i know they are not very quick and are pretty heavy. i like the opposite.

You're right, only the front trailing is not what I had in mind either.

For the rear you could get hold of A&L's trailing conversion for rc 10 tubs.
But with some creativity the rear of a SRB or the kyosho you mentioned should be possible to fit also.
(That beetle 's actually also a circuit 1000 like the tomahawk I referred to)

Be aware the body is the exact same dimesions as the sand scorcher: meaing shorter than your RC10. For the frog it should be a direct fit.
The wing is included but no masks or stickers.

i guess i'll stick to my frog for this project, unless i find
nice kyosho beetle or tomahawk chassis. i wish there was at least one company that knows what buggies actually are all about: thin skinny front wheels, fat rear ires wth spikes, a cage, slick aluminum chassis, rear engine/motor. do you rember the kyosho advance? imo one of the nicest buggies ever. i like the idea of such a buggy in 1/10 or even 1/8 scale. kyosho should start a retro classic baja series.

i've been thinking about getting one of that a&l chassis kits. problem is i don't have a nose plate for this that would look good on it. i think the gold one doesn't look good at all, and the regular black one has two holes for the chassis stiffeners/tubes. doesn't look good either. and i don't want to spend 100 bucks for a proper carbon nose plate. or what did you use for that?

I know where to get a tomahawk, only it's in too good a conditon to break down (you can read that as 'too expensive' if you wish).
The chassis I'd use with it is a carbon sprint chassis: no separate noseplate.

I'm gonna try to scan it when septemeber is over and put it in the scan archive.
This froggy is using modern parts to convert it into a 4x4 and has 2 lay-down shocks like an F1 in the front: neatly hidden under the body

hi that sounds good.
i've been thinking a lot about that bumpy frog front end.
i have modified my frog with the crp front shock towers and that tiny bolink shocks. it's better than stock, but no perfect solution. i do also have parts for a single shock front end. but i'm still looking for the best shock for that purpose.
