My Ultima at the VENOM INT Vintage Festival @ Castle hill.
I built up a Ultima out of bits that i had in my grave yard. The plan was to have a every day basher for our vintage meets @ Boondal. So After i turned my Turbo into a proper Turbo with a new special chassis i had a spare chassis , Front Bulk head with a hand made front tower, a complete rear end with a alloy rear turbo tower. A set of Duratrax front golds along with a original rear golds.
So i purchased a JG Mfg fiberglass top plate. A set of CRP front stub axles. My old cage body shell. For power i went for a 13t Ezrun combo . A standard rear diff ( With the grunt of the 13t i wanted no reliability issues ) Wheels are Tamiya star dish with tamiya hard tires. Rears are losi step pins on some unknown 5 spokes.
Well everybody that has seen this on the track are just amazed how quick it is. Not only that but handels so well through the corners. At Boondal our track is rather open so i wasn't sure how it will go at a proper track. I decided to take her along just for giggles and see if it can hold it's own in mod against rc10,s.
At the practice session it was on rails. Pulling wheelies along the straight. Drifting into the hairpin at the end of the main straight , Jumping was so nice. In fact i couldn't fault it.
The rain came down so it was a mud race again and with no time to do any chassis tuning so i had to just do the best i can. After 3 rounds of qualifing i stuck it on pole for the finals. 2 finals down i ended up 2nd overall . Rain stopped the final round.
Not bad for a bitsa as i call it.
The Ultima can and does punch well above it's weight!!!!!!!

Man another reason to wish I lived in Australia. One day I gotta get back down there. I've never been crazy about the original Ultima, but its starting to grow on me. Your action pics are realy enticing. I've got the tranny and suspension, just gotta find one of thos original chassis, and of course the ever elusive cage..

+1 I remember the Ifmar 1/10 worlds coverage in the RCCA it always seemed the best by far. I just want to grab a car and get in the mix. Seems like you guys are having a great time, and its outdoors!!!losiXXXman wrote:Man another reason to wish I lived in Australia. One day I gotta get back down there. Thanks James & Gary. Really appreciate it.
By the way James it was great seeing you even though i didn't remember your face. LOL that looked awesome.
Your mate Gaza did some very good racing too. We were one corner apart for the whole race. Than again the next. ( Very impressed as he doesn't race at all.) Was so close. That JRXT of yours went well too. Always goes well.
See you next Vintage Mud Meet.
