Got my Super Sabre running again...then broke it

Post by CTYankee »

I had broken the front steering arm about 23 years ago. Ordered the part from the local hobby shop and it never arrived (didn't help the guy was about 180 years old). While I waited something called the RC10 caught my eye and the SS went on the shelf. Fast forward 23 years and I have my parents ship these relics to me. I find the steering arm on Tower Hobbies and get it running again. Forgot how fun 4WD can be. Too much fun apparently. I broke the rear drive triangle thingy. The black piece that has the three knobs that fit into the wheel...snapped it. I can't see to find any on line. Anyone know of options to mount the wheels or where to get this part? I can hack something together, but figure someone must have come up with a good method.

Show us a picture of your axles. Probably one of the more common mods would be to mount a 12mm hex hub to an axle drilled for a cross-pin. With a 12mm hex, you can mount a large number of different modern & vintage wheels.

EDIT: I'm surprised, with Tamiya re-re'ing practically all their old popular models, and because they often used the same parts in many kits, that you can't find the hubs you need...show us the broken parts, I'm sure one of the Tamiya gurus here can steer you in the right direction. 8)

Want it in black the Boomerang is the same.

In fact the SS is a Boomerang with a different body.

The Hot shot parts will fit too .

thanks guys. I have one on the way from a very nice forum member. If I do break more of these, where do you get them? My local shop does not carry them and cannot order them (Hobbypeople, only carry what the warehouse sells). Can't even find it on Tower Hobbies.

For the Boomerang tree Tamiya USA is out of stock and the Boomerang is listed as discontinued.
Ebay might be the best bet or B/S/T areas of different forums.

If things seem under control, you are just not going fast enough.
