Are the rims on the swb mid Pargus'? They look absofreakinglutely KILLER!!!
Paul
You should be starting now
I still have some junks need to be restored, some don’t have small parts that hard to find. But most of them don’t have body shell and appropriate wheels and tires,
This year my intention is to restore them before buying additional toys.
(I’m crossing my fingers not to be tempted to buy a new one )

Yes they do look great! I'm going to have to obtain a set of those for my next Mid project. I put the other Pargu rims on my first one :
Nice Optima mid.
Trimming Optima's body shell gives me hard time. Are you using scissors or Modeler’s Knife?

Same challenge for me too... I fail miserably on a permanent basis. I've given up... however the rule that I stick to is to not work on more than two cars (read not have more than 2 cars in bits on the workbench) at once, which means one of the racers (8th scale offroad, 10th 2wd, EP DTM, whichever is in need of TLC at a certain time) and a vintage resto... Just finished a Worlds Car (pics soon!), just finished rebuilding my mbx6 for the last weeks of the season, just received my b44.1 kit, that leaves me with one vintage project to be kicked off
The UK wheels - who are they from if I may ask???
thanks

Thanks, the answer is yes, and yes. I use a sharp X-acto for as much as I can. I also use scissors in some areas, depending on my confidence level at the time I am cutting. I use a dremel with a sanding drum to finish areas like the shock tower openings.
Here's another project I have been wanting to get into. This would be the 3rd Custom Special that has come into my posession over the years and although its a little beat up I have some new bits and peices in the post making their way to me right...

I'm working on an optima-mid also, would have liked LWB but it took a definite turn to SWB. I see you're sticking with the original arms, so here's my question: what would be the advantages/disadvantages of swpping the originals for lazer ones? I...
Moin, read a lot here in the past few month, thanks so much for all the input!
Actually rebuild/upgrade a Kyosho Inferno 10 (perhaps) for some vintage racing. Found it in lousy condition w/o engine – ideal for some electric conversion. Body – I´ll...

Thanks!
The alloy knuckles are 1:1 Kyosho copies from Great Vigor, fit perfekt..
It's been a while... had to move house etc. blah blah blah!
Anyway, I've been fortunate enough to snag a really good Optima Mid Custom Special roller on eBay here in Australia. It'll go really well with the Turbo Scorpion that my parents...
I bought this a few months back, ran it for a bit, but my intention was always to strip it down and re-build it. I know there's a million Optima threads on here, so I apologise in advance, I posted this thread over on Tamiyaclub where I'm a regular,...

Congrats on the fine end result.
Body is not that bad - with the decals applied, it looks like it´s supposed to
Finally I got these restore projects started. I have been collecting parts since may this year and I think I have all that's needed. As my other builds, these two cars will be built by using mostly second hand parts (in great condition).
Model...

Thanks Lars! These projects almost went a bit too fast after I finally got all the stuff needed.
They look fantastic buddy! I always think Kyosho had an off day when they designed the stickers for the Custom Special,...
Hello, I joined up as I've been reading some of the threads on the Kyosho board and was amazed at the info and knowledge!
I bought an Optima Mid Custom in about 1988 and ran it for a couple of yrs then left it.
Fast forward to 2012 and I bought a...

I must say, I am looking at that Land Jump that the Japanese guy has got up on eBay at the minute and wondering how challenging it would be to convert it to brushless. I am not a fan of I/C...

Thank you again Coelacanth!
When I look around it seems common among many drivers that they want a heavier oil up front, than in the rear shocks.
Guess I will have to try :)
The buggy-bug seems to have bitten me HARD :)
Ended up buying also a Xray...
