Swapping old tires

The title says it all - are these things glued on or what? I can't seem to get the tires off of a set of wheels for a swap. Any tricks?

If they are the jellybean wheels ,you have to remove the screws and separate the wheels. if not then they are glued.acetone will remove ca glue.

What do the jellybean wheels look like?

okay - I have two different sets of rear wheels. One set has three screws, and the other set is solid. So the one with the screws can just be separated right? Why/ how would you need to glue the wheels on. The last time I mess with this type of stuff was around 1992.

You need to glue the tires with todays highspeed stuff or the tires blow right off the rims. Try running a set without once and you'll see what I mean.

If you want to reuse the rims and put new tires on you can get an airtight bucket/lid like a one gallon paint can and pour about a half inch of acetone in the bottom. Set an old wheel or something to support your tires/wheels and keep them out of the acetone and put the lid on the bucket overnight. Go in the next day and pull the tires off the rims and clean them up with some of your acetone or whatever...ready for new tires to be reglued back on. Not very cost effective unless you want to do alot of these. Might be easier to find another set of wheels if you are only gonna do a pair or so. Good luck.
