I hope so. I checked twice to make sure the condition said new. I ordered a book, and it was used. I do not like giving used stuff as a gift. Plus the book was really messy.
Alright, pooled some Christmas money the wife and I still get from her grandmother and a large contribution from our own savings (cha-ching) and ordered up a Nikon D7000 with an 18-200 lens. Very excited to finally have a good digital camera as our kids (ages 2 and 6) are at that age where you want to capture lots of cool moments.
I ended up buying a refurb D7000 through Ritzcamera and the lens from them as well, with a 5% coupon code and they throw in another year warranty on the refurb above Nikon's 90 day. Got 2 8GB SDHC cards that will do 10mb/sec transfer rate since the camera can handle 2 cards at once and shoots at maximum 16megapixal res.

one of the locals has one. He seems very happy with it. As long as she likes it is the right thing .

I have a Canon Rebel 35mm and some really nice lenses. I'm going to take them in and find a DSLR that they are compatible with. Another one of those things that I'm too cheap to commit to. My wife makes fun of me all the time for my frugality, but I can't help it.

I am the same way. Currently I am trying to find good, but cheap electronics for my new B4.
Moments like this are when I wish I had a better camera. The sunset Friday night. My crappy camera doesn't do these any kind of justice. The sunset in the distance literally became a neon red where it met the clouds. The pink and grey are pretty cool too though.

^Nice! Sunrise and sunset pics are some I've always had trouble capturing correctly. Even with bracketing and touching up in PS, I have yet to get a photo that looks like the real thing.
