Is this lipo still fit to use?

Post by urpaldan »

Having recently discovered the wonderful world of lipos/brushless systems i have also discovered how easy it is to crash with so much more power! The lipo hardcase cracked at one end after a bump, seemed ok so i duct taped it back together. However my next crash was a little more violent as you can see from the photo. My question is whether or not this lipo is now safe to use/charge?

If you crashed hard enough to crack that case that much, then another one like that is likely to rupture a cell which leads to a very serious fire. Spend the $33 bucks on another Turnigy pack but get the Nano-tech type with better performance and better casing. If your in the states, the gen-ace is just as good and cheap and ships to you in 3 days.

Yes unfortunately the lipo wasnt secured properly as its a few mm too big for the losi xx chassis. That wasnt very clever of me... The casing does seem very flimsy imo. Seems a shame to bin it but i dont fancy setting my house ablaze. Il look into the nanotech type lipo. $33 sounds a great price, in the uk we seem to pay around 25-40% more than you do in the states. Thanks for the advice :)

No, I wouldn't use it.
