SC104x4...thoughts?

Post by Goatless »

Thinking about getting back into racing. As much as I'd love to run 1/8 buggy again, I dont exactly want to jump back in head first. I would love to run 4wd elec. buggy, but I don't think that class is as popular as it should be around here. Most have a Slash or equivalent.
Any thoughts guys? Offroad has never been too popular here, but there is talk of a new track being built nearby, and I'd really love to race again.

I have one and love it to run it. Absolutely HATE it to work on it :| . Tear it down to kit form type situation to change steering servo or maintenance on difs. Got the MTK double slipper setup on it and hauls, handles like a dream and will sell it before changing out the steering servo again

lmao, I can understand that! Thats a "fix at home" thing anyway if I'm at a track, lol. I just cant see paying more for a Traxxas, although it does look like its a quality ride.
I dont want to run a class that has 2 entries a week, I wanna run the largest class, and without being in the mix lately, I'm pretty sure this will be the class.

Got a platinum slash 4x4 that my daughter runs. pretty durable for the money but its a tank vs. the sc10 4x4. Did some ft prettys on the sc10 after trading my old OFNA hyper7 rtr 1/8 scale for it. PO ran it maybe 2 weeks after building it. Some of the locals ended up with the OFNA SC truck whatever its called and think its the bomb. I have to agree with them when I can see them tear it down and put it back together in a couple minutes vs the all nighter for me when I get home if I break something internal. But I still like driving my sc10 and have outjumped, outran, and outdrove most of them. Even when I go to the track thats not local I outgun the locals who run on the track all the time. For me it was easier to drive and pretty much drove itself. For that I love it...makes me look good

 I've been texting my ole racing teamate. We getting jealous, seeing all of our former opponents still racing, lol. Don't know if I could run electric after all the years I ran 1/8 expert
Those guys would point and laugh at us!!

Found info. on RCTech about the track they are building. They are taking over a former BMX track at a local park. Track will have lights and bleachers, lol. They are building an offroad, 200' banked oval, truck/tractor pull and rock crawling track(s). They are only running electric the first year (close to a subdivision and retirement home) to see how things go. I'm thinking we will go with short course trucks to get our feet wet again.
As a former racer, I'm used to starting with a kit, but the RTR doesn't look that bad. Need to do more research.
