hey, as far as attaching the 2 peices together, use something like a panel adhesive, for sure. the crazy glue gets too brittle. something along the lines of epoxy or urethane.

one other trick to make it strong, once you bond it together; or before final gluing, but once you have the lap joint machined to your liking; clamp it together, and drill a couple of holes in the joint, maybe 3 or 4,( whatever fits), and fill those holes with some carbon fiber rod that you apply adhesive to, to act as rivets, or pins. you could cut them slightly long, then sand down flush. that would make the whole assembly very strong.

I've also joined chassis' together by utilizing the steering link posts as part of the assembly, so you use the bellcrank pins as a bolted assembly. I'm not familiar with the newer losi's, so I dunno if they just use a floating pin or what there, may not be applicable.

I got the super glue idea from Paul Sinclair (X Factory). When they started testing the stadium truck chassis, they basically cut the buggy chassis in half and spliced in about 3/4" of another. Brian K. did the testing on it and managed to crack the chassis in two. About an inch behind where they made the splice.

I think as long as I match the joints up close and apply the glue with plenty of pressure, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Epoxy or dare I say it, JB weld, would all probably work fine.

I need to get with bscotti about what he used on his hybrid trailing arm car he ran at the Vonats. I wish he would post some more pics of that car and his handywork. It was a trick lookin buggy.

i've never had a double x, so i don't know how close the front is between that and a pro se. but, could the se chassis just be modified to use the double x front end and steering? then just fill any holes that are now left open?

It would have to be narrowed and holes redrilled. Not too big a deal, but Reed's car was also using what looks like a XX steering bellcrank. That would have to be altered as well if using this chassis. I figure I'd just get it all with one shot with the graft.

They’ve made a few spliced longer ones for a SCT, one of their drivers showed me his after he got it. It looked really good, we couldn’t even tell where it was patched together, don’t have a clue how they did it. He did say they told him not to expect another if he busts it up!

i wonder if milling the 2 halves like a finger joint would be better that a lap joint. you'd think it would be. it would need some precise milling, but i think it would hold up much better if you were planning to actually use the car. this would only work if the ..... let call it the nose plate...... is gonna be surrounded on 3 sides. but i think it would be pretty friggin' strong if you'd be able slide the whole front end into a channel on the chassis.

The rear I believe is a composite craft.
Can someone confirm if this is indeed a Composite craft SE tower?

Oh and hows this going Brandon? Been a couple of years.
