Re: 9/11
Even though I am not an American nor have I ever been to the USA I still remember everything about that fateful day.
I saw some footage on the TV as I ate breakfast that morning and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was horrific to think something of this magnitude could happen. Rushing out the door for work I was left a little stunned with it all.
Arrived at work and we all just sat by the radio listening to the news broadcasts that seemed to string from one to another on a loop.
That night I sat infront of the TV thinking - 'my god the American establishment wont stand for this'.
I have seen a lot of the footage and programs/documentaries that followed over the years and it still horrifies me that evil people out there plot against those of us who just want to raise families, be kind to one another, serve society and so on. I never did understand why these evil people don't just leave the good people of this world alone.

Re: 9/11
I think it is very thoughtful that you guys took time to remember what you did that day. I was a sophomore in highschool at the time. Getting ready for school I watched the news and the first plane had already hit. I watched it before going to the bus stop. When I got to school I walked into 1st period US History class and my teacher had set up a TV for us to watch the news. He told us about the 2nd plane and that we are witnessing US history and we talked about how this might effect us. Someone brought up going to war, and he thought that was very unlikely. In my junior year our school made it mandatory for the first time that everyone take the ASVAB, which from what I understand is a test to see what jobs you would be good at in the military, and in general. Over the next two years we had military from all different branches come talk to our school. I have a couple friends who went into military service, I was DQ from military (as well as law enforcement and FD), because of a bleeding disorder that I found out I had while playing highschool football. 9/11 is one of the several days out of the year that myself and my two next door neighbors fly the American flag in front of our houses. I thank all War Veterans and my heart goes out to the victims of 9/11 and their families.
Re: 9/11
The day it happened I was mostly numb. Shock, anger, and disbelief.
It was the day after, as I looked up at a totally empty sky, that things really began to sink in.
I will never forget.
I will never forgive.
My soul has been to dark places where no one goes by choice.
And I have fought hard to preserve those things that make me human.
And I've sworn that in the end I will die a better man. A whole man. A good man.
But I will never forget
And I will never forgive.

Re: 9/11
At the time I worked in a call center doing tech support for none other than Real Player.
One of the few teams with full net access and most of the crash boxes in our cubes were streaming coverage live. Tons of calls from people trying to see a live stream of the towers etc. It was difficult to teoubleshoot because everyone was trying to watch the feeds. All throughout the day, people in the building filtered by to watch coverage and see the events unfold.
Sadly, my first thought was " wow, someone finally stood up to the US and its policy of wielding a big stick and chose to hit back.".
It saddenea me even now the arrogance of some people in this country that th US can do whatever it wants and try to instill its values and policy on other countries, and expect that its okay. Not every country wants to be the unitedstates of America, so who are we to judge?
And now, with recent attack on the embassy in Syria, provoked by a group whose sole goal was to insight the exact reaction and paint all Muslims as extremists when only a small % might actually behave that way.
People need to be more tolerant of differing views.
May we always remember and honor those who willingly and unwillingly gave their lives on 9/11.

I remember going to pick up an arcade machine with my father that day. We were on the route you would take to New York City and it seemed like no one was on the highway. I'm usually sleeping during the day and would have regrettably missed the whole thing if I didn't have to get up in the morning to make the trip.

What a sad day! Cowardly action against innocent civilians for the most part. At least Japan bombed military targets (or tried their best) in Pearl Harbor, not to condone that action either!
When I found out who did it, the extreme infidel came out of me with pure hate! Good thing I don't have access to nukes!
Afganawhere???? I'll probably get flack for that comment. I know there are many good people there, but do you think anyone would mess with us again? You have to look out for number one in the end!

Go back a few years before Pearl Harbor, and to the other side of the Pacific, Japan invented the bombing of civilian targets.slotcarrod wrote:What a sad day! Interesting, I did not know that part of history! I know Japan was ruthless during that era. Look how loving and peaceful they are now after a nuke or two! Not cool Rod, not cool! But it is the truth!..... In the end no one is innocent!MelvinsArmy wrote:Go back a few years before Pearl Harbor, and to the other side of the Pacific, Japan invented the bombing of civilian targets.slotcarrod wrote:What a sad day!
