terry, what type of rear shock springs do you have? or are they just compressed a little too much?

I use Fototime as a host, which seems not to play nice with some combinations of ISP/OS/browser now and then for no apparent reason.Charlie don't surf wrote:Where are you guys seeing pics?longboardnj wrote:like the new body.. anyone else here a big fan of the oldschool front tires in the first 2 pics in the first post?
Gonna try the "upload attachment" and see how that works . . .
Re: I think I'll keep her (RC10T)
They were overcompressed, I think they are the original springs. I'd never moved them from where they were when I got the truck.littleVETTE wrote:terry, what type of rear shock springs do you have? or are they just compressed a little too much?
I recently cleaned and refilled all four shocks, installed new pivot busings on the upper mounts, and adjusted the springs them according to the manual. I have a full set of springs for the front that I got in a trade, and I'm going to get some for the rear as well.
The biggest problem area is the clamps, the ones on the front are stripped and I put in longer screws with nuts (the very small aluminum 4-40 locknuts) to make them work. The ones on the rear are not much better. And I have not found any replacements. I don't want to replace the springs without new clamps.

You want them (not mounted)?longboardnj wrote:first post he has here has 7 pics in it .the first 2 pics has oldschool 4 rib tractor like front tires that i likeCharlie don't surf wrote:Where are you guys seeing pics?longboardnj wrote:like the new body.. anyone else here a big fan of the oldschool front tires in the first 2 pics in the first post?
I'm not going to use them, say the word and I'll drop them into the mail.
[edited to add]
I just looked at them (to make sure I could actually *find* them). Printed on the sidewalls is . . .

you could just move over with the shock preload clips. no screws to worry about, no more measuring to get right height.
Re: I think I'll keep her (RC10T)
Already considering that. I have some clips, I use them on my on-road cars. I don't have collars for the springs but I can improvise.
I would like to keep the stock "look" of the shocks if I can find some new clamps. If not I have a couple of ideas in mind.

Re: I think I'll keep her (RC10T)
i understand. you could also go the opposite direction with the clips. if you're going with the original look, you could also look for some alloy shock clamps. like the rc10 box art buggy. it'll give your car that baja look, with the shocks.
