I got my ESC wet (found that it was missing a screw from the factory) and it died. I was thinking about getting the SC700 ESC since its water resistant. Are they any good or should I just go with a different brand ? I was looking at the Novak Havoc 3S. any better then others..
For the price, the sc700 is decent, but IMO it's a big pain to program, listening for the beeps. Once, a friend of mine turned on his b4.1 and this esc got into programming mode. The car went crazy!
Probably his fault, though.
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.
I have another on of these in my old dragster. Just don't remember the name. Anyone know??

those black magic motors are no joke. i remember i had a couple, and i also remember writing off two rc12l's and a rc10l with them. it was like putting a v12 in a gokart.
I've been out of the hobby for over a decade, I'd like to get my Clodbuster going again. Currently it uses a Novak Super Rooseter with two modified motors. I hated the run time it use to have, just a few minutes.
Are there any esc's available that...

I ended up picking up the one everybody recommended... I have an old pair of Speed works Monster mash motors that I may use. A less modified old school truck perhaps.
I use to have more motors, but lost some stuff when my basement flooded.
How hot a motor you guys think I can run on that esc that comes in alot of the re-re kits before it lets the smoke out?

ive seen people running the 19t trinity komodo conservativley geared. i ran it with my hotshot re-re for a while with the 17t pinion and it worked just fine. didnt get too hot on me, neither the motor or esc.
Need some help. I have recently found my old RC cars at my parents and have fully refurbished the first one from early -90s. The car is a electric raider outlaw.
After replacement of mechanical parts and a new 7.2V 3000mah battery it...

Even a good vintage ESC can be had pretty cheaply these days. On my old Raider I ran a Futaba MC112B. I just picked up a vintage one that looks like it was never used, for like $25. The nice thing about this ESC, is it mounts just like a servo,...
I recently acquired a used and rather abused Novak t4 speed control. It came free with my car because the seller didn't know if it worked or not. So I tested it with my multimeter to find that it has a short circuit inside of it. The short is...

sounds like alot of work for little gain......
my thoughts exactly. novak t4's, if you really want one, are plentiful on ebay for next to nothing.
if you really want a brushed esc, since most people go the brushless route these days, you can get...
Just got this gem in the mail today. Popped off the wiring cover and discovered this:
And we've been wasting money on speed controls. You could have just hooked the motor straight to the receiver like this!
Can't imagine this worked too well......

Ummm.....no you can't do that! The white wire is a pulse. Black and red are power and ground. You don't have anything there to control power with. The esc is not just an amplifier, it processes the signal.
Can anyone tell me if the Novak 1 came with heat sinks please? The kind that slip on over the ones molded in the case?

Heat sinks were an optional part - not needed for 12th scale but needed for 10th off road. Two (black) heat sinks - one longer one for most of the FETs, a smaller one for the single brake FET on the right.
