cougar sv 2 good or bad choice ?

we have recently resurfaced our local track with clay and i am tired of getting spanked by the losi 22s i am currently running a rc 10 b3 and i liked the topcat i had back in the day so i am almost ready to pull the trigger and get the sv 2 i know going in that our local hobby shop will have no parts for me so how is the durability of these cars ? and can it run with the 22 ? i thought i would ask around here as the advice i got on the hpi sprint was spot on it really is vta in a box just add esc and 25.5 t thanx in advance for your consideration .

I race a Cougar SV at the moment and it really is a great buggy.

However, as you say you're running on clay i'm not sure it's the best choice. The SV excels on high grip tracks, but on the loose stuff it's not at its best. I've run it in very dusty conditions and it copes fine, it's just that i can run faster with my B4 in those conditions so i tend to run that on low grip level tracks. It's horses for courses

As for durability i've not had too many issues, after a years use i've still not managed to break any wishbones. The only changes i've made to mine are upgrading to steel outer gears and alloy gearbox.

I just got an Atomic Carbon CR2 which is really just a mid motor Losi XXX. I know it's not a Cougar but I will say that the key to mid motor getting grip on looser tracks comes down to setup. They can do it but you can't think of tuning them like you would a rear motor buggy or they don't work. I think that's most people's problem. I personally run 0 antisquat and may even go a degree or 2 of prosquat in back to help shift weight back there during acceleration. There is a new "dirt" spec chassis for the Cougar SV now that uses saddle packs and is a bit longer in wheelbase. A Cougar SV also made the B main at the IFMAR world finals which is quite impressive considering even Brian Kinwald made the B main. I believe the SV is a great car but learning mid motor is very different. The balance and cornering ability is wonderful when you get it right though. I almost bought an SV but got my car used at such a good price that I couldn't pass it up.

A lack of local spare parts is always a downside. The B3 is no slouch and I personally wouldn't be scared to run it against 22's. I don't buy the hype that it's the best car out there. It all comes down to how the car is setup.

I agree its all in the setup after all Team Associated has more championships than losi by far.

thanx for the replies ! my b3 which has alot of thunder tiger parts on it "way cheap" is fun to run and looks cool to boot it is fast with a tekin rs and 4400 kv redline motor so far trans and diff have just needed usual care so its not like i need a new car but the shocks needed changed so i did and ever since then i have been messing with shocks alot it is better now then ever but for someone with my mediocre driving skills would i better to go b4 ,22 or the prettier then all of em cougar mmm ? Also i race in a very relaxed place up here in thunder bay you could be racing anything 10th scale and 2wd, t4s are very hard to catch with a buggy it sure is fun tryin tho but we are only 40 or so miles to the us border and can run at more serious and much larger places so i guess i have some more thinking to do yet but will probably buy something next week did i mention i love buggies?
