another one...................

Post by scr8p »

as if i needed another project, i definately did not. but, i did "need" a worlds graphite chassis. i'm hoping it's in good shape, too. because if it isn't, bad things are gonna happen.

sorry brian.

very nice grab Jason, strange how these chassies never look the same (besides the chassis itself)...

Nice score scr8p! For the amount of views it got, I'd say that auction flew under the radar. You planning on a resto or a resto mod? Either way that chassis is sweet!

it's gonna depend on the condition of the chassis. if it's nice, i'll put all new parts on it. if it's pretty beat, i'll just replace what i need to, and give it a re-dye. i hate putting new parts on a hammered chassis.

You might recover a few of your $$ with the "Legands" (sic) body, though. I'm still looking for that elusive chassis. But I'm really patient.

well, it showed up today, and pretty much looks like i expected it to. a couple extra holes, damaged kick-up, etc. it definately spent it's whole life oval racing. the chassis is worn down behind the right front arm mount just like my graphite team car. it's got an mip steering bellcrank, and also mip cvd's. i'm gonna start tearing it down tonight. who knows, maybe i'll find a 64p gear set in the trans. doubt it, but a boy can dream..................

Sand it, use epoxy or CA to build up the bad spots and then shoot it with clear.

You already knew that...

Interesting front shock tower BTW.

Would you guys mind giving a little more detail on reconditioning graphite? i.e. what kind of epoxy or CA and what type/brand of clear? Is the clear out of a can?

Thanks :)

you can pretty much use any kind of ca glue to fix the chassis if it's seperating. if you have extra holes you want to fill, a 2 part epoxy works good. i use 3M automix products, myself.

here's a couple pics of a fusion speed tub i repair for a forum member. the tub was seperating at the rear kick-up, and the front. a few of the arm mount holes were ripped out, and there was a few extra holes. after i did the repairs, i used a clear sealer on it. you can still see the repairs, but there's not much your gonna do about it.

also, here's a link to one i resurected for myself:
