RC10 in mix at European Off-Road Series

Post by ck33 »

Found this via a post on rctech...
While Cavalieri, Numedahl and Thielke are all running the latest chassis technology here in Dortmund, the fourth member of the factory Associated team Craig Drescher his turning back the clocks running a 1993 RC10. An 11 time European Offroad Champion, the British driver used this model to win the third in a run of 4-consecutive European titles. Setting the 61st fastest time, Drescher said he is running the car after he got the chance to run a ‘classic’ race in France and having enjoyed the experience he decided to set himself the challenge of seeing how he could do against the latest cars. Having been out of top line competition for sometime now due to a lack of time he said running a new Associated would have only left him frustrated had he not been on the pace and this way he is having a lot more fun adding if he can get the car in the top half of the field that would make his weekend.

Ditto !

Really curious to see what he'll manage to do with it. On such a high-grip surface a mid-motor would undeniably better suited though, so it'll have to be factored in to appreciate Drescher's final result. He's always been one of my idols ! Maybe even more than Spashett.

didn't cedric build this rc10 for him? i know he lent him an rc10 not to long ago at the cml masters. i knew someone was going to put up an old tub, sooner or later, up against the big dogs. it's good that it's drescher, he's one of my favorite drivers out there.

looks like he's pitting next to cavalieri.

I like the classic shock spring clamps. Hoping this is part of a publicity campaign for a re-release.

And his 6221 steering blocks are still white. The day will come when or or both of those are black out of necessity. Looks like B4 wheels straight onto his stock front end.

I run the stock clamps on my car without fail! It does look like b4 wheels :| that would explain why it looks do narrow-

Come to think of it, the ones I've broken are black. Maybe the whites are a bit more flexible and forgiving. And I do things like come down nose first onto pipes and stuff.

Hi guy's

Well, Craig pushed me hard after running my runner at the CML Off Road Masters late in 2012.
So I managed to find him a good condition chassis and was lucky enougth to found him a close to be new world car in Germany.
I fully disassemble the car and machin and tune evry alloy parts, I rised the chassis sides, bent the rear end and cut it. I also worked on the front nose and stronger to the motor plate.
Rear arms are also rised, then I replaced the steel turnbuckles by some Lunsfords, and fit ball bearings in the steering arms.
Transmission was fully rebuilt with stock parts.
Craig improved my build by some extra arrangements to the chassis, by countersunking some holes and he invest in a set of CVD's.
We choosed a RCPS Mirage SS repro, from Jay I guess and he sent it to his favorit painter to mach is current paint sheme.

That's the story of the car, know let him warming and demonstrate the potential of a 20 years old RC10 with a 40 years old driver...
