shelf queen PROMOTED!
I got this and my only 10t both close to roller status for $40 on epay a few years ago. Pretty good deal as both chassis and parts were near mint. I built up the gold tub box stock with like new parts, ran a few times on clay and then put it on the shelf.
I snatched the AL steering and titanium links off the buggy for my newly built CE. I also snatched off the new CE front and rear rims and AE tires for safe keeping. The only upgrades for running are the 10t 0 degree rear carriers, B2 cvds, TT rear rims and zip ties on the bellcrank The body is an old beater but still looks good from my house.
There is an indoor on and offroad track not too far away. Now that I have made the jump to lipo I want to race more of my vintage rides .

Re: shelf queen DEMOTED!
Fix the title. It should be "shelf queen PROMOTED!"
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.
Re: shelf queen DEMOTED!
Let us know how the 6 gear trans holds up to racing with that brushless set-up. Car looks awesome BTW.

Looks good, Chris. I'd swap out the bell crank for something beefier. But other than that, you look track ready. Let us know how it goes. Yupers off road track is about ready (not my thing, but I'd come out to support the gold pans!).
OT - I've decided to retire the bomber for multiple reasons, and picked up an SC10 to move to late models.

Russ, I will upgrade if and when the stock setup breaks
Thanks Reg, I didn't realize the title could also be edited.
PJ, pictures to follow!

Re: shelf queen PROMOTED!
The "if" won't be the question, but "when" it happens, you can always try the "traxxas mod" until you find a deal on a good crank. I did that to get by before I found a worlds crank....I still have it ready to go...It's yours if you ever need it.

There is a fine line between "need" and "want" I need the cranks and the AREA 51 decals

Re: shelf queen PROMOTED!
Sadly, I have not yet run this buggy. The chassis is in very good condition, too nice to run. Keep in mind most of my shelf queens are built with top shelf used parts. I only have a handful of new builds.
I couldn't bring myself to tear it up. I had another chassis in good condition, a few light scratches and two small holes in the side. My OCD forced a chassis cut to eliminate the extra holes.
I swapped out the stock front axles for the extended axles. I can now run the TT rims with the right side out, unlike the bomber setup. I also swapped out the nose for the Worlds style cut nose and added the JG front bumper. Now I won't cringe when I bottom out

No, I just haven't been in a good long while. First, I need a transponder. I also need to get another motor for the bomber. After winning races, I learned the Reedy 3300kv was outlawed at the track. The bomber class spec motor is 13.5, I was told the Reedy specs out at 10.5

Re: shelf queen PROMOTED!
Funny, editing the subject from DEMOTED to PROMOTED must have jinxed this rig. I built this with intentions of racing more than two years ago. I was competetive with my the bomber on the clay oval but an air conditioned indoor track sounded cool The track where I planned to race closed shortly after I finished the build
Fast forward... sorting through the rc hoard I decided to swap out some parts. I finally got around to upgrading the bell cranks. I decided I didn't have the balls to run the original front arms and swapped out for later black AE front arms. Black front arms required black RPM rears.
I swapped out the original ball cups for RPM as well. I reverted back to a brushed setup and will run a newer Reedy 11X2. I should have bought more motors from Associated a few years ago at $10 a pop clearance
