Re: Citroën ZX Optima Mid LWB Rally
Some changes again... sorry Coelacanth!
As I'm using the sports shocks that were often seen on less fancy models I took the decision to continue using "sports parts" for this build (they also have to be used eventually). I replaced the adjustable turnbuckles with plain rods and also kept the Rear Plate (L) design meant for a mechanical speed control. I have also tested using a standard shock tower in the rear but made some custom holes for shock mounts. Maybe the standard shock mounts can be used for mounting the body. The front shocks have been relocated to holes one level below. After I took the pics I realized I need to adjust the camber angles again... damn rods!
Picture time!

Re: Citroën ZX Optima Mid LWB Rally
Slow but steady progress. Bought a new built Ferrari F40 as donor car. Now I have a bumper that will soon be transfered to the rally car
A picture showing how the donor car arrived. The motor is a Mega Outlaw 22x1. I might steel some more parts like the belt protection as no glue or tape was used by the unknown builder. I have now a second set of onroad tires!

That looks too nice to be used as a donor car, did you get a body with it as well?

Re: Citroën ZX Optima Mid LWB Rally
Two reasons: The body was crap and I'm more into custom builds right now. Bought it to get more new mid parts All my builds have a history in donor cars. I almost never buy parts separately.keithrc wrote:That looks too nice to be used as a donor car, did you get a body with it as well?

That motor is the stock motor the car came with.
Also, that looks really nice for a build second-hand car.

Well in that case, I could use the front shock tower for my F40 if you'd consider selling it?

Thanks! I also got the box and an original instruction manual but still didn't figure that outEvolutionRevolution wrote:That motor is the stock motor the car came with.

I could sell it if it differs from a regular mid tower. I haven't checked yet. Did you perhaps meant the plastic part mounted on the tower?

Re: Citroën ZX Optima Mid LWB Rally
Nah, the shock tower itself, I already have the plastic body mount. The only difference is it has the lower holes to mount the front shocks lower down. Otherwise they're exactly the same as normal Mid shock towers (as far as I'm aware).
