Behold... My first question....

Post by Badillac »

Hello everyone. New member here.
Here's the long story short about my RC10 passion. When I was younger I read a lot of RC magazines but could never afford an actual rc (besides a Tyco Turbo Hopper I got for x-mas which took like 16 AA batteries to run).
Now I'm older (30) and I can afford fun stuff. So I bought one on e-bay. Standard gold tub, nuthin' fancy.
Question is...
Where do you guys find tires for these things now? I occasionally see sets on e-bay. Couldn't find any on Towers website. Do other makes tires fit? Help me out, mine are bald.
RC's are like ****'s... everyone has one... some are just more torn up then others.

Not all "gold tub" cars are the same...

1.7" rears were last only available in the Pro-Line waffle tread, but even they are discontinued. Ebay is your best bet for 1.7 rear and 1.9 front tires... if it's an older gold car

If it's a CE car (1990-1995) you can still find 2.0 rears and 2.1 fronts, again ebay... Losi still makes a 2.0 rear step pin, and narrow front associated 2.2 tires can still be had (they'll fit the 2.1 three-piece wheels ok).

Nope, tower lists them as having a 2.15 inside diameter.

Traxxas also makes some front ribbed tires that fit (p/n 4740). You can get them at buytraxxas.com

Well, will a Championship Edition wheel fit on a non CE car? Also, are worlds car wheels the same measurement as CE?

2" rim tires at tower. They are a harder compound, so if you are bashing they will last a bit longer. I imagine they would suck balls for racing:

or

Yes CE wheels will fit on a non CE car as long as it has the 1/4" axles. The worlds wheels are for the 1/4" axles but have a 2.175" measurement. Which case you could use the traxxas tires.

Swap to the 3/16" rear axles and you can use B2/B3 wheels with 2.2 tires that you can get anywhere. You would have to swap the rear bearings in the hub too to make these work.

Actually, the Traxxas rears do very well. They are a harder compound so a really hard concrete-like blue groove track may not be the best for them. Anything other than that, and you're golden.
