I agree, great insight. Stuff you just don't get from picking up a magazine.

even if this is correct, you can bet the buyers are the distributors, dealers / retailers and not the general public.
I agree with that!

Was cool to hear Cliff talk about wanting to encourage vintage racing... looks like what's old really is what's new!

By the end of the year I can see the ebay price for whichever ones are left being twice the original pre-order price.
No doubt! The greedbayers will be out to rip anyone off that still wants one badly enough.

some guys here want to drop 10turn (brushed) mills in there... not much different ;)
See, the 6 gear was reworked to handle a 6-8T brushless...now I don't feel so bad about dropping my 10T brushed Dirtinator in there. :D I can tell you one thing: my mid-'90's 10T brushed motor is mild compared to what some speed freaks are undoubtedly going to put in this thing, guaranteed! You wait and see what shows up on this site in September...gonna be hilarious! :)

Obviously, they're making the re-re brushless/lipo compatible in order to accept the modern technology (and so the brushless fanatics can't bit#$ and moan about the car not accepting modern power). The question is do they think the car as a whole can actually handle that power (guess so) or do they just want to appease the brushless enthusiasts in order to sell more units?

In the interview above Lett says that the car has been tested down to 6T Brushless and handles it fine.

6T brushless?!!!...wow. Makes sense though, I mean guys have been dropping brushless motors in to the plethora of far less-capable plastic fantastic cars for years (and racing them) with no problem so why shouldn't a race-bred design like the gold pan be able to handle it.

When guys say my 10T brushed is overkill I assume they're speaking from a more technical standpoint of getting every drop of power to the ground effectively with little or no wheel spin.....but why on earth would you want to do that!? :P :)

Just saying it that even the old car can handle the 10T equivalent of a brushless motor. And im running it with a 6 geear.

It may be able to handle the power of a 8T brushless motor but good luck trying to control it! That short arm car is quite unforgiving by comparison to even the long arm version which is less forgiving than a JRX which is less forgiving than a modern car. You get the idea. It's handling won't be able to match the ultimate power it can take. It might be fun to try though!

For what it's worth on the local rc forum someone claims Jconcepts is working on a special product/project for the re-release. Wheels and tires I would guess?

Funny you say that, I just listened to the podcast and at 1:15 they gave him crap about designing a cab forward body and Cliff said he would disown them if they did.

Also at 1:18 they were all talking about the opened box but not assembled worlds car that just went for $1400 on fleabay. One of the interviewers said he was bidding but dropped out after a grand. Sounded like Cliff was pretty shocked about the final price.

That's what I figure at least with some timing adjustments on an old brushed motor. I run a 4300KV brushless in my plastic fantastic Tamiya F-150 SCORE truck without a problem and it's a missile but I can control it well around a track. A 15-18 year old 10T brushed Kinwald Dirtinator can't be any worse.
