Russ, thanks for the link. I've been looking for AREA 51, the old style AE is a bonus! Do you have your bomber up and running? I can run this weekend... your new fiberglass chassis is still in the trunk!

I have a few old 10l, ss and Bolink pan cars. There is a nice indoor 12th scale track in Plant City and a separate indoor offroad track too

The AE logos were the reason I picked that set...I still have the Area 51 and Factory team decals left. They're yours if you want them.

It's my Saturday to work (until 12), then I have family things going on, so I won't make it tomorrow. Yupers was talking about trying to race tomorrow, even though it's an off-week. At any rate, I'll be there on the 6th.

I took the bomber out to run at SS Hobbies' sweet banked dirt oval. There were approximately 12 plastic bombers running, enough to run two groups. I showed up late and had no practice time. Fortunately the track was super sticky and the bald CWs were the ticket. The car was set up perfect

DNF first qualifier due to a lost front right hinge pin holding the knuckle to the arm. Argh! Next race I smoked the group, finishing first with 38 laps and .50 second slower than the fastest bomber. I managed to make the third starting position in the A-main with eight cars running!!!

The last race was total chaos with crashes in every corner. I think at one point I heard the announcer caution all four turns The pinion began slipping about halfway into the race. The gears were just catching enough to turn the tires but much slower. You could hear it screaming but I didn't care... hammer down!!! I am waiting to determine how I finished in the final as the race ended at 12:30am and I didn't stick around to review the times. I have not had that much fun in a good long while.

5/24 Race update: First practice lap I met the wall and busted the right rear arm mount Fortunately I brought my graphite runner for parts. I ended up with a 1st place finish in the first heat.

2nd place finish in the second heat with a popped front right turnbuckle off the carrier for the last 6 laps. I ran full bore down the straight, braked hard to turn and hoped the car ended up pointed in the right direction.

I got tangled near a turn marshal who picked up the car and said I was broken and started to put the car out of the way. I yelled "I've been broken the last five laps!" The marshal put me back out and I limped around for another lap. Ended up TQ in the main with a class of nine bombers!!! 25 YEAR OLD RC10 TQ IN A CLASS OF NINE BOMBERS!!!

Keep in mind this is all going through my head. Outwardly I am Cool Hand Luke, certainly not gloating. That's when I started hearing about the 3300kv Reedy being banned. Too fast, not a 13.5. I did make it clear that I was not looking to cheat or even win, just to run. I didn't realize the 3300kv Reedy specs out all over the board.

Well, I guess it was appropriate that I began having interference problems in the main. Batteries in the transmitter were about half spent. Damn AM radio and AA NIMH

I will be back to beat the haters with the bomber passing all tech specs

I think motor legality has been an issue since RC cars were invented. Unless tracks run "spec" handout motors, someone will ALWAYS complain. The last time the FDOS made their round at Yupers, there was a big whine fest prior to the start. I was running a bomber, and didn't care what the points guys were moaning about....but it really put me off about running when they're there.
At least you had a good time. Hope to see you at Yupers this Saturday.

Funny, FDOS wasn't there, just haters Still had a great time running. Many people were happy to see the old rigs run.

REM, it has been a blast. I haven't run the bomber in a good long while. The t3 is my favorite runner as of late. I enjoy running it around the neighborhood passing 1:1 cars.

Yes, our tracks are open year round. I do not know of this winter of which you speak. Winter highs average around 60 for about a week in December. FYI the Gulf of Mexico was 90 today. I'm not worried though, I heard global warming was bologna.

Integra, thanks. Mine runs like it is on rails around the track and rarely breaks loose. The RC10 is the perfect bomber. Your heavier car will surely hook up. Just remember slow in fast out. You will likely coast past the lighter, skittish plastic buggies entering the turns.

Hey Chris, I don't know about your schedule, but Yupers is running indoor oval on Friday nights now. The track is concrete, and looks like Martinsville. The bombers are alive and well there. I broke out the 6 gear for it (again). I put dirt racing on hold until around November, simply because of the heat and afternoon rain.

Traveling to Yupers Friday night will probably not happen. I4 east is crazy for a good long while, especially Friday. What time do things get started?

Hey, that reminds me... about time you headed I4 west to Tampa for Friday night on the banked clay oval. I haven't run in a while, two old school RC10s running would be too cool. I still need to shake down my graphite late model at the track too

Thanks for the thought, but I don't need the steering rack...However, if you have a pretty good stash of 6-gear parts, I may have an offer for you. (I'll send a PM)

I figured Fridays may be tough...I'd be in the same boat going I-4 west. They start at 7:30. It's tight enough for me getting from work to Yupers after work, but it's worth the rush knowing I don't have to deal with the heat or rain.
