Question: Klein rear arms, rear hub options and CVD options

Hey guys,

I have been working on another project in my spare time, but have a question. I am building up a buggy with Klein rear arms to get some more extension. In my research, I was told to use some B44 rear CVD's. I think that i am using a RC10T rear hub carrier. At first, I tried using a standard B4 rear hub carrier, but found that the CVD was not long enough. At any rate, I find that the former hub carrier works as far as the length of the CVD bone. However, I am finding now that the rear arm is hitting the bottom of the CVD right behind the hub carrier. This is limiting the travel of the rear arm up and down. I could carve away some of the Klein rear arm to allow for fittment, but this does not seem quite right.

What hub carrier can I use with the Klein arm and still use the B44 rear CVD without any rubbing issue on the rear arm?

If the B4 rear hub is an option, then what is the right CVD option that will fit?

Any suggestions and advice would be helpful.

b4 rear hub carrier with klein arms will put you out pretty wide, typical WOIN builds would use either Klein arms/rpm rc10T/GT hub carriers and b44 cvds, OR stock arms, and b4 hub carriers with b44 cvds. the second case is a bit narrower so you have to be careful with droop, wheelbase, and camber curves to prevent binding.

The rpm rc10t/GT hubs raise the axle in relation to the lower pin, thus moving the dogbone higher.

if you use the klein arms with B4 hub carriers, I'm not sure you could use a standard dogbone/cvd out there, maybe have to make a custom one.

When I was running the klein arms I ran the RC10GT hub with B44 CVDs. My axle rubbed on the arms, but not that bad.

How much droop do you have in the current state(pictures)?

Ok, thanks for the insight. I will try to find some different hub options then.

Not too sure on droop just yet. I will post some pictures when I have another moment to spend in the cave. Right now, it has been few and far between.

I have stock hubs with B4 CVD bones and the MIP axles, so it's a bit of a mish mash but it works

old losi or custom works rear hub carriers work to i think.

Finally was able to take some time and take a few photos. Please take a look and let me know your thoughts about what I might be missing here.

This is all of the droop that I get. The CVD bone is resting on the rear arm.

And there are a lot of spacers in the CVD behind the axle and hub.

Something just is not working here.

As I said before you need the rc10gt hubs from rpm. The axle sits higher preventing binding.

rpm 70272, losi 2038, or custom works 3241. those are your options.

If I use the custom works hub 3241 is there and thing else i need? I see most modern racers are using the rpm carrier or the losi. Is there an advantage of using one over the other? I have the dyantech rear and front arms, b44 cvds, b4 spacer, and the custom works spacer. On the front I will be getting the wide axles. Am I good to go?

the CW hub is essentially the same as the losi 2038 (used to be identical), but the newer version has the ball studs screw down from the top instead of on the side. it does put the tie rod on a bit of an angle but it works.

Scr8p What about the kranzel rear hub?I saw that from a post you did awhile ago plus its aluminum. Bling . I have them on my rc carbon works project. I havent put the b44 cvds in yet but i am using klein arms.that combo works also right?it has theholes to raise the hub up like the rpm gt ones do.
