I would highly doubt it to be fake, I have not heard of any others being done. You might be able to do a quick check with a metal detector, but otherwise keep it safe and sealed. What a great find!!!

I do find it odd. A 20 year box kicking around in a hobby shop, only to be discovered in near perfect condition, when AE cars are at an all time high :? I remember Reg saying once that he bought a sealed graphite, or something like that, sat on it for a couple of years, and when he opened it....paper, and rocks  I would get it X-rayed, but then again, if a forger would go through all that trouble, would he not put rc10 parts in the box.. beat to hell parts, pack neatly?...its most likely real, just saying is all.... That's the curse with sealed kits that are bought second hand, you happy as s@#t you have it....but you never know

RC10th wrote:Associated cars have never been shrink wrapped as far as I can remember. Maybe the shop did it? As long as the seal looks clean and not tampered with, but a lot can be done with a heat gun.

Congratulations, once in a RC lifetime find.
All AE cars have been factory shrink wrapped since (apprx) 1986

Hopefully since the other two are obviously legit the Worlds stands a good chance also.

There is no way I would have been able to leave it sealed. I would crack that sucker open faster than a fat kid with a box of smarties

I wouldn't pay for a sealed box personally. If I cannot see the contents I just would not trust people these days. Too many scammers sadly. Also I would far rather have a car than a card box on display, but that is just me. Happy for you though :)

I don't buy these cars with the sole intention of using them as an investment. In reality I lose big money on most of what I buy and sell. But most of us are going to sell our stuff someday. To me opening this up is like cashing in a winning lottery ticket for half its value.
