i need to replace most of the suspension due to excessive play.shocks need rebuilt. i think most of the electronics is shot and i want to upgrade to more modern stuff.

I read a similar thread in another forum, but value the opinions in this forum more. How long do you give brushed motors? I personally hope they stick around forever. I love playing around with the tuning. Brushes, springs etc... It's always amazed...

Pop ups could also be caused by malware. Run a scan using Spybot search and destroy or Malwarebytes.

And I agree with the Ccleaner and Ghostery recommendations.
