use or display? ...A&L Road Kill Outlaw
well i was looking around for a new body for my rc10gt and asked my buddy dan if he had anything unused in his piles of rc crap. calls me back 5 minutes later saying he's got a new, unpainted, uncut, A&L road kill. He wanted $10, gave him $20 and im now looking at one of my all time favorite bodies as i type!
the big question. paint it, run it, enjoy it. or shelf it and keep a can of dust-off nearby?
its going on a nitro so itll need some hacking and its racing on a nitro so thatll mean a whole host of fun too.
in the grand scheme of things these toys were meant to be used not put on a shelf. but man that would look ****ing awesome on my shelf
idk, maybe im just rambling.

If its nice and hard to replace IDE keep it nice. Leave it to the new stuff to race with as its easier to replace.
That's my view on this stuff.

Re: use or display? ...A&L Road Kill Outlaw
The last time I talked to Daryl of A&L, he was still making the Roadkill body...that was last year though.
I would say paint it and run it if you can still get a new one. Otherwise, just keep it for the shelf.
I managed to find two NIP Roadkill bodies at my LHS last year in the bargain bin, plus I have one that I used to race with on my LX-T as a kid and another clear one on my shelfer. They still are my favorite oval truck bodies of all time. I'll keep an eye out for any more that they may have for sale and let you know if I find any.

I would love it if the Roadkill body was still available, I really like the looks of those bodies.

I think I have at least a dozen of the Roadkill's from BITD painted and used to various levels- greatest (and about the only) oval truck shell of all times. Of course, you have to have short towers in the rear at the very least-

i like both the roadkill and the supermod bodies. they look better than other brands like the cdk or the mcallister. back in 2000 when i called daryl to get a roadkill he wasnt making anymore Deans was, i never understood that, so i got the supermod. i was dissapointed but the extra width added more downforce witch made the truck faster so i wasnt complaining. there was 2 styles of the super mod the first run witch was originaly made for the t2 towers and the current version that is more universal. the front bump in the hood or scoop aera was more dished to fit the contor of the t2 tower the new version is more flatter and straight across for different brands tower clearence.
here is 2 that i ran

well i hope yall have pitch forks and torches ready, i cut it up and im masking it tonight. its getting mounted and run. using stock towers too so its got big ole holes in the back for them
i couldnt help myself.
i will however do right by yall and mask it by hand and do a proper rattle can paint job. not some new fangled thing you see on modern race bodies.

I was never familiar with this body before joining this forum, but I love it! My entire hobby career has some fairly large gaps in it. Some things I was around for... others not so much. Can't wait to see your painted shell as I'm so tired of seeing this body clear. Great job wyldbill! Looks killer!
Can't wait to see yours SRT!
FWIW I was never even familiar with my own body until 7th grade health class. Since then I've become very familiar with it. On a completely unrelated note... my eyesight is failing.

when i was growing up and my dad took me to job sites one of the things he would always tell me, "schuyler, a true craftsman knows how to hide his mistakes"
well let me tell yall sumtin, ive gotten very good at hiding them. i made more than a few mistakes (never painted a body i didnt make mistakes on) but after window trims and some decal work im even surprised
ill have pictures up in the AM. i just got off a night shift and i want to go to bed.
