T4 RPM Ball cups (rod ends)

Post by sbsyncro »

Hey guys, I'm getting steadily better around the track with the Castle-powered T4, which means I'm getting more air on the jumps and landing hard more often… This means that when I catch a front tire funny, I'm popping (ripping actually) the ball cups from the turnbuckles.

So far I'm not having any problems with bent or broken turnbuckles (or I just bend them back carefully). The bigger issue is pulling the threads loos from the stock AE ball cups. Does anyone have experience with the RPM ball cups and know whether they are more durable?

Thanks!

Sorry, I'm confused. I'm posting in the R/C Tech Forum which says its for "new school" stuff. Should I post this question elsewhere? (I'm fairly new to this forum, so apologies if I posted to the wrong place).

RPM ball cups are a must, the stock ones tend to break at the end of the rod.

If your pulling the threads out of RPM's your doing a good job.

Well, RC10talk is a vintage forum. The Tech section is here for new school discussions, applications of new parts to old cars/trucks etc...and the occasional question/discussion about members "latemodel" vehicles. We really don't have/maintain threads regarding new stuff about/for new stuff simply because we aren't a catch-all RC forum like RCTech.net.

Are RPM cups better than stock AE on a T4.1? Yes, very much. Can you use the long versions of those? No not easily. Any ball cup that has been forced off is compromised, the AE stock specifically-

Thanks guys. Just to clarify, I'm actually pulling the threaded end of the turnbuckle from the shaft of the plastic ball cup. I keep pulling the left rear outboard one, which of course results in the dog bone flying off on its own.

I'll give the RPM ones a try.
