Alloy machining

Post by Peakey »

Hi

I am wanting something made out of alloy for a project. Has anyone had this done and could someone recommend somewhere in the UK I might be able to get it made.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Justin.

I wouldn't know where to begin on recommendations for machine shops across the pond, but I can definitely help you evaluate the feasibility of what you're doing, and offer advice on which alloy and what kind of dimensions you should be looking at if you'll disclose what it is you're wanting to make. I have a lot of experience with machining parts from aluminum alloys ranging from F or O temper (very soft) 3000 series to 7075-T6.

If worse comes to worst you could always try http://www.emachineshop.com/ as they ship internationally.

Hi guys thanks for the help I have been talking to a guy from oople that says he can help but I've got to get to grips with cad and he said he will have a look and see but recons it shouldn't be too hard to do what it want. So hopefully soon one of my vintage cars will have some custom alloy bits :D

Looks nice! Sure wish I had CNC capability. What'd that set you back?

I'm able to produce parts, but they don't look quite as good.
