Atlas Rear Arms

I got a set of atlas arms a while back and when paired with a stock rear hub carrier. All my UJ's come up too short. I'm not using a b4 rear hub carrier.

Is there something special I have to do with atlas arms?

I had to shim mine from both sides the stock hubcarrier.Or i may have used 10t hubs,cant remember.I will check

I used stock hub carriers and put turnbuckle inner most hole in middle row bulkhead.don

atlas arms should be the same length as standard buggy arms. my guess would be you have too much droop. put some limiters in the shocks.

If I shim a stock UJ to the point the rollpin hits the bearings. It barely fits.

I've already limited my shocks a good bit.

If I could reduce the space between the bearing in a B4 rear hub carrier by like 2-3mm, I could fit a b4 UJ in it.

Its weird everyone ive built its always different how many shims are needed .Its never the same.
I always fit axles before i shim to check that all si where needs be if not enuff in outdrive i shim it.Then shim it for axle pin on other side the hub.Don

Recheck that bearings are properly seated in hubcarriers .Ive had to ream out some older ones to seat the bearings fully.don

If I switch to a flangeless bearing on the inside in a stock hub carrier, It should give it enough room to fit in.

For now, I'm probably ruining a b4 rear hub carrier. I dont have a 3/8 drill bit but i do have some sanding stones at 3/8. If it pushes far enough in I'll be ok.

I know I can switch to the b4 cvd with rc10/b2 axle and it would work. I just have a rc10 UJ set, 2 b2 UJ's sets, and a b4 UJ set, just trying to use them w/o spending more money.

well, Ive got nothing. I've just decided to take the b4 hub carriers I have and carve them out. I managed to do one so far. It seems that about 1/8" allows a b4 to fit. for now im just using a that long tungsten bit from dremel. Im swirling the bit inside the hub carrier as close to perpendicular as I can. Its not going perpendicular but creating a cone effect so The the bearing slowly goes farther in the more I grind. hurray for finally using these b4 UJ's. I bought them back when I was new to the forum and generally thought switching to b4 hub carrier and a b4 cvd/uj allowed me to run 2.2's.

Do you have a pin to pin length on those arms? Something's fishy

I put a normal rear arm next to the atlas and they were identical. they are like 2 3/16" pin to pin.

I thought it was a rear mount but those seemed to be same too.

my b4 UJ's are only 5/16" longer than the rc10/b2 UJ's I have

my b2 UJ is like 3/64 longer from the bone end to inside bearing. Did the 1/4" UJ's change length between 6 gear and stealth or would that make any difference?

I didnt have any flanged 3/8 x 3/16 bearings to try on a stock rear hub carrier but it seems like the b2 may work right over the 1/4" UJ

at this point, without seeing everything you're working with, i go back to my original statement. your atlas arms are the same as stock arms, mounts are the same as stock mounts, which means that using a stock rc10 hub carrier, rc10 or b2 universals should be long enough. you need more shock limiters.
