B3 body Paint Experiment
I can't say that I've ever tried layering paint like this so it was quite an interesting experiment for me. I shot the black metallic + a little silver metallic first, then cracked the masks and had at it with the secondary colors to make this custom blue (it's candy blue+silver metallic+blue metallic) After the paint was done, I went back at it and pinstriped the silver work and numbers on the exterior. I'm pretty stoked about how it came out!

Re: B3 body Paint Expiriment
That looks great, Kevin! And my lucky number is 97, actually...well, ok, it hasn't been lucky in any way, shape or form, but it's my favorite number.

Re: B3 body Paint Experiment
Thanks!
I still have 3 truck bodies to design and paint, I think I'll experiment more on B3's or Vipers first though I need to practice fades and shading, but I think it's inevitable that I'll need an airbrush set up to do techniques like that successfully.

Re: B3 body Paint Experiment
Part 2 of the candy metallic B3's
The kiddo needed a new body too so we sat down and drew something up. For some reason he immediately gravitated towards tribal flame type artwork I did. Personally I'm not really a fan of tribals however it's his buggy so I said ok sure
This round we did lots of candy blue (almost too much) > metallic blue > brilliant blue and then the black. No silver this time, we just wanted it to be a bit different than mine. The flash makes it look the same, but it's more of a darker shade. I know we did it backwards and I'll probably never do lighter colors first again, but between the scheme and the task of masking it was the only way to pull it off. After it dried we laid down the windows and pinstripes the same way as my B3. Pretty cool I think and Joe loves it We'll probably add some #'s and etc to finish it off.
